| | Gram Parsons Complete Reprise Sessions CDs (2006) Remastered; Boxed Set
Revival: 2008 Tour Edition songs
$24.29 Taking the place of the obligatory cd two-fer of GP and GREVIOUS ANGEL, Gram Parsons's THE COMPLETE REPRISE SESSIONS covers it all and then some for Grampires of all stripes. Produced by Emmylou Harris and Parsons cohort James Austin, this beautifully designed three-disc set includes one disc devoted to each solo record and a third featuring outtakes from each album's sessions. With fewer overdubs and Gram and Emmylou's vocals front-and-center in the mix, the final disc brims with the emotive soul and earthbound angelic vocals the two perfected. Among the final discs many highlights are looser alternate takes of "She" and "Streets of Baltimore" from GP and a "Hickory Wind" unadorned by the ridiculous fake crowd noise that mars the GRIEVOUS ANGEL version. The latter is the best and most stirring recorded performance of Parsons's ...
| | Harry Nilsson Son Of Schmilsson CD (1972) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Revival: 2008 Tour Edition album
$7.59 SON OF SCHMILSSON was the follow-up to Harry Nilsson's most commercially successful album, NILSSON SCHMILSSON. Again produced by Richard Perry, it's a well-balanced set of semi-loopy rockers ("Take 54," "You're Breaking My Heart") and ballads, both lushly orchestrated ("Remember Christmas") and spare ("Turn On Your Radio"). The album includes the hit "Spaceman" and closes with one of the only pop songs to include the sound of gargling, "The Most Beautiful World in the World." As its predecessor does, this album enjoys a spirited sense of band interplay, which perfectly matches the material at hand. Musicians on board include the scantily pseudonym-shrouded George Harrison (George Harrysong) and Ringo Starr (Richie Snare).
Emboldened by a huge hit and hanging with Lennon and Starr, Harry Nilsson was ready to let it all go when it came time to record a follow-up to Nilsson Schmilsson. The very title of Son of Schmilsson implies that it's a de facto sequel to its smash predecessor but, as always with Nilsson, don't take everything at face value. ...
| | Electric Light Orchestra A New World Record - Expanded Edition CD (1976) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Revival: 2008 Tour Edition CD music
$7.59 Also available in a 3-pack with FACE THE MUSIC and DISCOVERY.
1976's A NEW WORLD RECORD is both a classic of commercial '70s pop and an archetypal ELO album. From the outer-space synths and rich orchestrations that open the album to Jeff Lynne's meticulous production and Beatlesque melodies, A NEW WORLD RECORD is magnificent ear candy. Both ambitious enough to appeal to "serious" rock fans and ultra-catchy enough to sound terrific on Top 40 radio (the plaintively gorgeous, McCartney-like "Telephone Line" and the anthemic "Livin' ...

| | Last Stone Cast Life Construed CD (2009)
Revival: 2008 Tour Edition CD music
$16.45 Last Stone Cast :: Life ConstruedCD ReviewBy Kim ThoreLast Stone Cast :: Life ConstruedBlasting out of the Akron, Ohio rock scene into your speakers is the latest release from the power trio known as Last Stone Cast. Having just produced their first full length cd, entitled “Life Construed”, it is clear that LSC has gotten remarkably closer to finding their niche as “Life Construed” is a notable departure from their previous work. What is equally remarkable is that while “Life Construed” is a step up from their self titled EP both offerings are significant in their own right which begs the question what sound or genre is left for LSC to conquer as it is obvious that this trio has the chops to explore numerous directions without getting lost on the way and each destination is a sonic pleasure ride.Comprised of Scott McConnell on vocals, Jon Epstein on bass and Billy Morrison on drums , LSC manages to give you the sound of stadium swagger which demonstrates their ...
