Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; English Subtitles; Director's Comments; Sensor Matic This chilling romantic mystery from director Robert Zemeckis (FORREST GUMP, CONTACT, BACK TO THE FUTURE) casts Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer as a quiet couple living in the hills of Vermont. However, when they begin seeing visions of a woman who is haunting their house, the husband confesses that it is the ghost of a young girl with whom he had an affair--and who might have been murdered. A sexy and suspenseful film, WHAT LIES BENEATH will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Robert Zemeckis takes a page right out of Hitchcock and runs with it in the spooky supernatural thriller WHAT LIES BENEATH. Dr. Norman Spencer (Harrison Ford) and his wife, Claire (Michelle Pfeiffer), seem to have the perfect life: a loving marriage, a daughter just entering college, and a beautiful home on the water in Vermont. But what lies beneath this idyllic existence are secrets that will rip everything apart.
Dr. Spencer is an award-winning scientist whose work is threatening to consume his life; meanwhile, his wife is trying to deal with empty-nest syndrome now that her beloved daughter has gone off to college. Strange things start happening around the house, and Claire starts believing that the man next door murdered his wife and that the wife is trying to contact her from beyond the grave. Dr. Spencer is worried that Claire needs psychological help; he refuses to believe that their house is haunted. But as more and more dangerous events unfold, a frightening truth threatens to destroy everything. Robert Zemeckis's modern-day ghost story trembles with threatening close-ups, a powerful musical score--and lots of terror. And it does for bathtubs what Alfred Hitchcock did for showers. Theatrical release: July 21, 2000.
Estimated budget: $65 million.
The film grossed more than $220 million worldwide.
WHAT LIES BENEATH was filmed on location in Addison, Vermont, on Lake Champlain, as well as in an L.A. studio.
In preparing for the movie, director Robert Zemeckis recounted saying to his special effects supervisor, Rob Legato, "Imagine, what would Alfred Hitchcock do if he had computer graphics?"
Robert Zemeckis won a Student Academy Award in 1973 for FIELD OF HONOR, which he made while at USC film school.
Zemeckis started making films when he was in the eighth grade.
Both the Spencer house and the Feur house, as well as the dock, were built especially for the film.
The original idea for the film--about a couple visited by a student ghost--came from Steven Spielberg. What Lies Beneath Reviews: "What lies beneath WHAT LIES BENEATH are the good bones of Alfred Hitchcock....[Pfeiffer is] electrically alive..." -- Rating: B

$7.69 In 1998, the likes of Mase and Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz officially put uptown (technically the Bronx and Harlem, NYC) back on the map. Introducing Cam'Ron, the first MC on Untertainment Records, one of the newest heavyweight hip-hop labels. With his debut album, CONFESSIONS OF FIRE, Cam'ron shows off his versatile skills, mastering a commercial yet street sound.
Songs like "357" and "Horse & Carriage" (which features Cam's close friend Mase) are definite club and radio bangers. Other joints, such as the lesson-teaching "D Rugs" and the touching "Prophecy," play with your mind, forcing listeners to think. With the secret lovers-themed "Wrong Ones," Cam'ron reveals his storytelling persona. And, of course, Cam'ron rounds out the album with hardcore cuts ...

What Lies Beneath review
$10.29 In the tradition of such genre parodies as AIRPLANE!, THE NAKED GUN, and SPACEBALLS, Keenen Ivory Wayans takes on the teen horror flick with SCARY MOVIE, a campy, riotous send-up of everything from the SCREAM and HALLOWEEN franchises to I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, CARRIE, and THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. In a small town, a copycat is reenacting the SCREAM murders, and local reporter Gail Hailstorm will do just about anything to get the story. The six high school students who ran over a man on a sharp curve the year before think the killer is out for revenge, but sweet and innocent Cindy Campbell believes that the madman might just lurk a lot closer to home.
Cowritten by Shawn and Marlon Wayans (and four others), the script leaves no cliché unturned; in addition to the horror parodies, the film also spoofs such teen sex comedies as AMERICAN PIE and such hit films as THE SIXTH SENSE, THE MATRIX, and FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT ...

What Lies Beneath DVD
$9.79 Based on Stephen King's novella THE BODY, director Rob Reiner's STAND BY ME is the disarmingly tender and subtly sublime story of four kids on the precipice of early adulthood who embark upon a quest. There's Gordie (Wil Wheaton), the intelligent, creative one with the obviously bright future. His best buddy, Chris (River Phoenix), hardens his image in order to hide the pain from the physical abuse he endures at home, all the while harboring the hope of escaping that image. Rounding out the foursome are Vern (Jerry O'Connell), the pudgy tagalong, and Teddy (Corey Feldman), a loyal and funny but troubled kid with a death wish.
When the four boys hear about a dead body 20 miles down the railroad tracks from their small Oregon town, they clandestinely set upon the unwieldy journey to lay eyes on this rare find. Amid numerous misadventures, Gordie, Chris, Vern, and Teddy savor what may be their last chance to revel in the ...
