| | Sunn O White 1 CD (2003)
Sapta Rasa: Seven Moods Of Your Mind album
$11.39 Doom metal isn't a huge market; you won't find an abundance of doom metallers headlining Madison Square Garden or bragging about their ability to sell more CDs than Madonna, Janet Jackson, or Pearl Jam. But it does have a small cult following, and those who are seriously into doom metal can be very passionate about it. One of the more ambitious and musical bands in the doom field is Sunn0))), whose White1 favors the sort of complexity and intricacy one expects from progressive rock. Sunn0))) has the usual doom metal elements, including dark lyrics, sludgy guitars, gloominess, and Black Sabbath-minded riffs that are incredibly slow -- no one will ever mistake Sunn0))) for a grindcore, thrash, or death metal combo. But White1 is hardly the work of your average Saint Vitus or Grief wannabes. This CD contains three extended pieces, all ...

Having both become fathers since the release of 1997's BE HERE NOW, Liam and Noel Gallagher have cut back on the carousing and ironically made Oasis's fourth album the most psychedelic one to date. Overseen by Massive Attack/Bjork producer Mark "Spike" Stent, STANDING ON THE SHOULDER OF GIANTS, finds the larger-than-life sound of the Brothers Gallagher sprinkled with a light dusting of drum loops, samples, electric sitar, Mellotron, and backward guitar. As always, the Beatles continue to loom large as influences, ...

| | Under Aspect Became Mechanical CD (2008)
Sapta Rasa: Seven Moods Of Your Mind album
$11.39 Under Aspect, a sound tainted with heavy riffs and addictive melodies, invites new-metal fans to see a whole new universe of hard pounding music. Inspired by bands such as Deftones, Sevendust, Tool, Portishead, Chevelle, Korn and Killswitch Engage, the five piece band quickly cooked the right recipe to get a warm place among the enormous Montreal music scene. With over 50 scenic apparitions for their first year playing together, they earned the price for the band with the most impressive performances in the 2006-2007 MAD production's tour presented by Musique Plus. This mention gave them a chance to show a big audience what they could do on the Club Soda's Stage by performing their piece of resistance Click! Bang! & Goodbye. This very same piece opens with energy their new album «Became Mechanical». This first opus was entirely produced by the five members who felt the need to evolve freely in their art. The finished, yet not mastered project, was put in the hands of Jeff Fortin, guitarist for Anonymus (Galy Records) who added the professional spice in Hugues Bouchard's work, young drummer of the formation (Rec productions). The chemistry that unites the five protagonists offers a totally new aspect of what a show signifies to some people. The interaction with the crowd seems to be right formula which the band adopted throughout Quebec. With the experience acquired, they were ready to entertain fans of Anonymus, Vulgaires Machins, Alcoholica, GFK, and more. Built from 13 somewhat provocative songs, the album steps firmly into the enemy camp. Not to make noise, but to clear up the terrain. Liberty of expression, ...
