... this album is by far one of my most cherished. Before Toni Tenille, before Linda Ronstadt, before Natalie Cole, there was Carly Simon (not too many know that this was the first) and a Torch was born.

back in 1981---before linda ronstadt, rod stewart, queen latifah, and all pop singers who have recorded songs of the standards---carly simon released "torch"--the album was recorded after her break-up with james taylor.

| just can't do standards
She just can't do these songs justice. Try Steve Tyrell or Diana Krall for contemporary Standard singers. Ronstadt is better also.
