Oops! Wrong Planet
$9.09 Utopia: Todd Rundgren (vocals, guitar, piano, saxophone); Roger Powell (vocals, keyboards, synthesizer); Kasim Sulton (vocals, bass); John "Willie" Wilcox (vocals, drums, percussion). Recorded at Bearsville Sound Studio, Bearsville, New York and Utopia Sound, Lake Hill, New York. RA found Utopia moving away from the long, experimental instrumental jams that distinguished their first two albums, but what's surprising about it is how the group changed. Sure, the lineup was different but their approach changed on RA, as they moved away from prog rock and toward hard rock. In that regard, it makes sense that Rundgren's possessive has been stripped from Utopia's name, since the band no longer sounds like an indulgent spin-off of his own albums. RA has little to do with either Rundgren album that preceded or succeeded it. In fact, it's an anomaly in both the Utopia and Rundgren catalogs. Never before had Rundgren attempted what ...

Oops! Wrong Planet
$10.49 A HARD DAY'S NIGHT presents a fictionalized day in the life of the Beatles as they give a performance on a live television show. Filmed just a month after their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in February 1964, this film--the Beatles' first--introduces us to the unique personalities of each member of the band. The film opens with the Fab Four boarding a train mobbed with adoring young fans (mostly women) as they attempt to travel to the television ...

With this CD hopefully its double-meaning is also expressed. This was a sort of send-off session for bassist Andy Burtschi, who has left our area(central Illinois)for Colorado, and who had been on 3 of my CDs previously--and all recorded at Third Stone Productions. Hopefully it will be a CD of introduction for him there in Colorado. Aloha ...

| | Moxy Fruvous Wood CD (1995)
Oops! Wrong Planet
$9.89 Moxy Fruvous: Mike Ford (vocals, acoustic guitar, guitar, harmonica, piano, conga); Jean Ghomeshi (vocals, acoustic guitar, guitar, melodion, drums, wind chimes, tambourine, shakers, percussion); David Matheson (vocals, electric guitar, guitar, banjo, harmonica, piano, organ, Mellotron); Murray Foster (vocals, electric guitar, bass). Additional personnel: Lorin Sklamberg (vocals); Danny Levin (violin); David Krakauer (clarinet). Recorded at Dreamland Studios, Hurley, New York. Moxy Früvous: Jean Ghomeshi, Dave Matheson, Mike Ford, Murray Foster. Audio Mixer: Michael Koppelman. After Moxy Fruvous built a Canadian audience with the novelty songs of their debut BARGAINVILLE, the fairly subdued and serious WOOD came as a bit of a shock. The cover art, featuring a whimsical cartoon that has been replaced with a black-and-white photo of the band standing in the forest, illustrates the transition from quirky humor to earnest songs with a more rural sensibility. But while WOOD may not be the best introduction to the "Fruvous sound," it is probably the most enjoyable album for the average music fan. While WOOD does feature the four-part harmonies that made their debut so contagious, the songs are deeply influenced by Canadian singer-songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, and particularly The Band. The latter's influence is particularly present in WOOD's eclectic ...
