James Christopher Evans began writing and playing music after graduating college. He found it as more of a reinventing process, than a continuation of early years. James writes material based on personal life experiences that have come to shape his life. Love, death, and romance are at the heart of his music and most are based on real life experiences. This is said to be the reason for James' music to be so accessible to his listeners. Self taught on guitar, piano and vocals this, as yet, unfound talent is a romantic at heart with plenty of material yet to be recorded. Some of his musical influences include Jeff Buckley, The Cure, The Smiths, Sonic Youth, and Rufus Wainwright.James Evans' sophomore release, Fighting Pigeons was recorded at Orphan Studio in Atlanta, GA. James teamed up with producer Glenn Matullo (John Mayer, Shawn Mullins) to create a smoother more mature sound. James shows his personal growth as a songwriter, flexing his storytelling ability, filling in the spaces with catchy guitar hooks, memorable lyrics, and powerful vocals.Fighting Pigeons was released in spring of 2008 under James' new label, Horse King Entertainment. This album truly tells the story of hardships, love loss, uncertainty, while trying to grasp a hold and make sense of this short ride called life. Evans stays true to himself, taking what life throws at him, dealing with it, and turning it into something beautiful for his listeners to embrace.

The passion inside his heart is to see transformation in lives across the globe by encouraging others and raising up warriors who will stand unashamed for their faith in God. His life story is below: “I’m telling you, Jeff – all this is what your soul is longing for – and it is available.” Many of us wander through life looking for something. Sometimes it takes somebody to tell you what you are looking for. I was seeking for purpose in life. I wanted to know why I was created. I was asking myself questions like: Why am I here? Why was I born? Where do I go when I die? Why do I feel so empty inside? Popularity came easy for me from having an outgoing personality as well as a successful basketball season my senior year in high school. After high school, I had accumulated many bad habits including drinking, smoking, and being sexually involved with women. Influenced by a lifestyle of secular music, media, and partying I lived for pleasure and wanted to do what felt good. I lived for myself and the times where I could get glory. According to the standards of the world, at this point in my life I pretty much had everything I wanted, but something was missing. I felt completely empty inside and I did not know why. Through a series of questions and events, I ended up at a family/church camp listening to a Pastor named Kevin. “What would it be like to know you are living for eternity – for reward beyond this life – for the opportunity to hear God say, ‘Well done, Jeff. You stood tall. You fought for justice. You cared about the little people. I’m proud of you, son.” I knew this man had something that I was missing and I wanted it. He was full of joy and peace and you could see it all over his face. Pride held me back from talking to him throughout the week, but I ended up getting his email address at the end of the camp. When I got home, I sent him an email pouring out my heart. Double DedicationThis recording is dedicated to 13 wonderful jazz greats, catalysts who inspired me to become a musician. It is a 2-disc set. The music I wrote for them (on Disc 1, cuts 1-13 on this page) attempts to capture the ambiance of each artist. The poems (on Disc 2, cuts 14-26 on this page) are selections from more than 100 in my book, "I’m Just the Drummer in the Band," which features musicians from Jelly Roll Morton and Louis Armstrong to Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bobby Hutcherson, and Joe Henderson.Some of the musicians were ahead of my time, and I therefore heard them and studied them on recordings, others I was very fortunate to hear live, and still others I have been lucky enough to play and or record with.
