| | Jerald Fitzpatrick Way Of The Mic CD Jerald Fitzpatrick Discography of CDs
For over two decades, Jerald Fitzpatrick has been coming up with intelligent, thought provoking rhymes. Most recently, performing as a guest on 3da Hard Way’s album “Black Chicago.” Jerald's underground debut, under the pseudonym Da Las Poet, was released in 1998, garnering critical acclaim for its lyrical depth and vocal delivery, although mundane production left something to be desired. Nevertheless, Jerald spent two years touring and promoting, gaining fans and respect with every performance. After a brief hiatus to focus on filmmaking, he returned to write what would eventually become “The Way Of The Mic.” In late 2002, while hosting "Friday Night Blues" on 89.5 WNIJ, Jerald was introduced to Benjamin Sampson, who had recently come off of the regionally successful electronic fusion trio, Sōlfantom. The two forged an immediate rapport, and agreed to team up on the basis that this album would contain real music, as opposed to the majority of sample-laden hip-hop. Initial rhythm tracks were written soon thereafter, and the instruments, almost entirely overdubbed by Ben, were meticulously recorded over the course of a week. Always encouraging the music to progress beyond current expectations, Ben and Jerald made it a mission with “The Way Of The Mic,” to expand musical boundaries and demonstrate the versatility of hip-hop through the melding of man and machine. Real instruments and original music combined with contemplative lyrics and expert delivery brings forth Jerald Fitzpatrick’s “The Way of the Mic." Way Of The Mic album
$15.65 On THE BLUEPRINT 3, still unretired Jay-Z announces "the only rapper to rewrite history without a pen." It's a standard Jigga boast, but the Brooklyn icon has earned the bragging by backing it up, particularly on his gold-label, top-shelf BLUEPRINT series. Ever-ready for battle, Jay-Z takes on autotune, crossover radio, and many other hip-hop concerns with the gloriously jagged rap elan for which he's become known.
When Jay-Z first made a series out of his best album, 2001's The Blueprint, it became a game of high expectations. The first volume saw Jay-Z as vital as he'd ever been, storming back to the hardcore after a few years of commercial success. THE BLUEPRINT 2 took a different tack, with guest shots to compliment his sinuous flows. BLUEPRINT 3 is somewhere ...

Recorded between 1973 and 1981. Includes liner notes by Mark Coleman.
Columbia's 1998 collection of Earth, Wind & Fire's Greatest Hits in many ways stands as the group's definitive compilation. Even though there have been more extensive overviews of the group's work, such as the triple-disc set The Eternal Dance, this is the first collection to contain all of the group's biggest hits on one disc. All but one ("Love Music") of the ten songs from 1978's The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire are included, while six of the ten songs from The Best Of, Vol. 2 are featured; the remaining two cuts on the 17-track collection are the minor early single "Kalimba Story" and the album cut "Gratitude." These are fine additions to the album, but the true meat of the collection lies in the hits -- "Shining Star," "That's the Way of the World,

Way Of The Mic songs
$39.95 After releasing a collection of Snoop outtakes plus their "Re-Lit" version of Dr. Dre's The Chronic, the WIDEawake Entertainment group continued their unleashing of Death Row Records vault with their most ambitious project yet. The Ultimate Death Row Collection kicks off with a disc full of hits from the infamous West Coast label's heyday. With "Gin & Juice" (Snoop Dogg), "Nuthin' But a "G" Thang" (Dr. Dre), "I Ain't Mad at Cha" (2Pac), "Regulate" (Warren G.), and a slew of others, it's a whirlwind of vital G-Funk hits and West Coast classics that finishes on a high note, the fan favorite "Afro Puffs" (Lady of Rage). Disc two and three are where things get interesting, as a series of unreleased and rare tracks present an alternative-reality version of Death Row. From the LBC Crew's ominous "Six Shooter" to Soopafly's underappreciated party cut "This Type of Flow," the collection makes the Row seem much more active and diverse than most will remember. Add to that undiscovered ...
| | Very Best Of The Originals CD (1999)
Way Of The Mic album
$6.99 All tracks have been digitally remastered using 24-bit technology.
The Very Best of the Originals includes their hits from the late '60s through the mid-'70s, along with some LP cuts, B-sides, and unreleased tracks. The first six songs were produced or co-produced by Marvin Gaye in 1969 and 1970 (including the hits "Baby I'm for Real" and "The Bells"). These have been sometimes cited as forerunners to his What's Going On album, but it would be wrong to view them as a What's Going On supplement. They're in much more of a lush, group vocal, sweet soul style, although some traces of ideas Gaye would play with in the early '70s are present, particularly in the way the background voices weave around each other. The one previously unreleased Gaye production, "Just to Keep You Satisfied," would be reworked, with the same backing ...

| | My Friend Autumn Summer Music For Winter People CD (2008)
Way Of The Mic CD music
$12.69 "Summer Music for Winter People" by My Friend Autumn hits stereos after more than four years in the making. Delayed by graduation, marriage, life and the death of family members, the band's first full-length album is about navigating adversity and the hope that who you once were is constantly being revised for the better."Change has defined my life," guitarist and songwriter Matt Cummins notes. "Actually, my reactions to those changes has." Growing up in Massachusetts, Cummins' family would move to North Carolina abruptly in 1992. "Without my friends to skateboard with, I was left lots of time to learn guitar, listen to albums… and write horrible poetry."The name of the album alludes to that period of time in Cummins' life: making much with little and starting from scratch. "You might not have the sunniest disposition, but being able to make the most of what you have is essential.""We jokingly call this album our "Chinese Democracy," referring to the long-delayed album by Guns 'n' Roses, said Cummins."We started this band with the rejection of the idea that band dynamics had to include stress and drama," drummer James Greif said. "Matt and I met while in other bands, and think we were successful in this endeavor despite all the dramatic life changes ...
