Colorful family dysfunction is the order of the day in this ramshackle indie road comedy that travels along the LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE/FLIRTING WITH DISASTER route. Adapted by Sherwood Kiraly from his comic novel, DIMINISHED CAPACITY is about Chicago reporter Cooper (Matthew Broderick), who has short-term memory loss as the result of a concussion. He goes home to Missouri to check on his senile Uncle Rollie (Alan Alda) who has--among other nutty ideas--a system for getting the fish in the lake near the ancestral homestead to write poetry. Virginia Madsen is Charlotte, the girl next door who stayed behind to marry some knucklehead when Cooper moved away--and now sparks rekindle. Everyone gets together for a road trip to Chicago, where Uncle Rollie plans to sell a priceless baseball card at a sports memorabilia convention. Stealing the movie outright is Dylan Baker as a tightly wound Cubs fan/card trader; he lends the movie a welcome sense of original comic timing and tone. Also good are Bobby Cannevale as the vibrantly brash card trader in the next booth, Louis C.K. as a recovering alcoholic who tries to rehabilitate Charlotte's sniveling brother (Jim Truefrost), a petty thief with eyes on Rollie's card, and Bhavna de Montebello as a pretty psychiatrist. It's all set to a nice score of jangly indie guitars and tunes from Sufjan Stevens' gently devastating ILLINOIS album, as befits a "quirky" feel-good indie. This first-time feature for actor-turned-director Terry Kinney certainly fits that bill; like old Uncle Rollie, it's a little disoriented at times, but all the more loveable for it. Diminished Capacity Reviews: "All of the actors convey the ebullience of old friends convening for an on-the-cheap reunion. The shared good spirits result in a diminutive comedy with a bounty of charm and shrewd humor."-- Jan Stuart, Los Angeles Times "DIMINISHED CAPACITY touches earnestly on heart-heavy issues of loss..."-- Manohla Dargis, New York Times "[A]lda, hair disheveled and brow knit with stubborn intent, is both fierce and quietly heartbreaking." -- Grade: B+-- Leah Greenblatt, Entertainment Weekly

$11.35 Kevin Hart riffs on marriage, kids, and the dangers of dating in this hilarious stand-up concert, and still has energy left over to take himself to task for being short. The host of BET's COMIC VIEW: ONE MIC STAND, Hart cracks jokes and tells stories with forceful enthusiasm and brutal, hysterical honesty.
He electrifies the audience with a clever, animated style of comedy that cannot be duplicated and brings his audience to tears in this stand-up performance. He's hilarious as he pokes fun at everybody, but he's funniest when he's the brunt ...

$5.75 Kelsey Grammar plays a wayward Navy officer, Tom Dodge, who is notorious throughout the Navy for having responded to a close call involving a Russian submarine by getting drunk and tattooing "welcome aboard" on an unmentionable appendage. He gets assigned by Admiral Winslow (Rip Torn) to command his own submarine; unfortunately, this sub is a rusting 1958 diesel model that the Navy wants to engage in war games to find out if it could inflict any damage. The assumption is, this sub is comparable to those the Russians are selling to renegade Iraqi and Libyan commanders, who might use them on suicide missions against the US.
Once on board, we meet the cast of quirky characters who will man this clunker, including a hyper, mutinous Rob ...

$12.99 In the hallowed tradition of such coming-of-age comedies as PORKY'S and AMERICAN PIE, Sean Anders's SEX DRIVE is a genial and hilariously juvenile adventure about misguided intentions and true love. As the film opens, we meet the sensitive and lovelorn Ian Lafferty (Josh Zuckerman). Taunted by his testosterone-addled older brother, Rex (an excellent James Marsden), and shunned by his co-worker/dream girl, Ian takes solace in a raunchy Internet romance with a blonde beauty known as Ms. Tasty. With college approaching and his virginity still intact, Ian allows his friend--and least likely Lothario--Lance (Clarke Duke) to talk him into driving from Chicago to Knoxville. There, Ms. Tasty has promised Ian a wild ride of a more intimate nature. Complicating this lusty road trip is the boys' pilfering of Rex's beloved muscle car, as well as the presence of Ian's other best friend, Felicia (Amanda Crew). On the road to Knoxville the trio will encounter engine breakdowns, jilted backwater boyfriends, abstinent temptresses, and an Amish farmer (Seth Green) as handy with autos as he is quick with sarcasm. But as the action comes to a head in Knoxville, Ian and Felicia must confront the greatest hurdle yet: their feelings for each other. Will sex ruin the bonds of friendship? Will Lance change his carefree ways after an Amish assignation? And will Rex beat Ian to a bloody pulp once he catches up with Ian? Director Sean Anders fills SEX DRIVE with just the right mix of bawdy gags, sharp laughs and emotional honesty. The result is a randy romp that remains ...
