Get Thrashed Movie Review Average Rating: (3.7 out of 5 stars) REAL DOCUMENTARY OF AN UNSTOPPABLE ERA!!! FIRST OFF, THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE LAME UNAUTHORIZED DOCUMENTARIES ABOUT THE THRASH SCENE THAT GOES NOWHERE. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL, TOLD BY THE BANDS THEMSELVES. EVERYONE WHO WAS ANYONE DURING THIS ERA IS IN THIS FILM ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. IF YOU ARE A THRASH FAN, RENT THIS DVD Submitted by BIG BOBBY P. (Bridgeport, CT, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Ah, nostalgia Very cool documentary on the birth of Thrash Metal. You won't learn much if you were lucky enough to be "there" when this incredible music movement began and reached it's peak in the 80s, but it's still cool to relive that important time in metal through the songs, interviews and mostly rare footage. If you are young or just getting into this style of music, then it's a good overview of the bands that laid the foundation and what it was like back in the scene in the mid-80s through the end of that decade. Much of the information comes from insights and stories told by the bands themselves, while current bands, such as Shadows Fall and Lamb of God, speak as fans and how the old thrash guard were big influences on them as they were growing up and decided to become metal musicians themselves. All I gotta say is "Thrash On!" Submitted by Fred (Milwaukee, WI) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Get disappointed Briefly- I was somewhat disappointed by this documentary after looking forward to its release. I thought the histories of the bands were glossed over. The most annoying part of the entire documentary was the inclusion of interviews with Corey Taylor and Sully Erna. What does either of these guys have to do with thrash? I though Rat Skate's Born the Basement was much better Submitted by Scott (Damascus, MD USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 0 of 1 found this helpful.

Get Thrashed DVD Get Thrashed traces the rise, fall and impact of thrash metal; from its early years, through its influence on grunge, nu metal and today's heavy metal scene. It is the story of the heaviest, hardest music of the 80s and early 90s as told by the bands who lived it, the fans and bands that grew up on it and by the artists that carry the "thrash metal" flag today. The documentary throws new light on an overlooked, yet incredible music scene and how it went from a simple rumbling in the underground to a loud, obnoxious and constant roar in the (almost) mainstream.

$12.59 Almost by definition, every musical genre (and the Bay Area thrash metal scene was no exception) is launched by a small number of outstanding artists who go on to inspire a slew of second and third 'tier' acts (read: followers). Inevitably, these followers manage to ape the originators with varying success, only to fall prey to historical inconsequence shortly thereafter -- Vio-lence is a classic case study. Although never as talented as peers Death Angel or Testament, Vio-Lence survived by being one of the scene's most pro-active underground acts and a much better live act than your run of the mill Forbidden or Heathen. But with the glaring vocal shortcomings of vocalist Sean Killian cramping their style, committing their Exodus-inspired mosh anthems to vinyl on ...
