(4 Customer Reviews)
Kentucky rockers Black Stone Cherry are not afraid of their country roots. While Daniels-soaked rock-&-roll is nothing new, it's the rare band that finds new (back dirt) roads to take it down. FOLKLORE AND SUPERSTITION is the work of a band bursting with enthusiasm about having discovered the way to make the traditional music their own. A healthy helping of metal muscle and sinewy, snakebit guitar solos push songs like album-opener "Blind Man" and the Dixie-fried blues-rocker "Soulcreek" into the swamps.
Black Stone Cherry: Chris Robertson (vocals, guitar); Ben Wells (guitars, background vocals); Jon Lawhon (bass guitar, background vocals); John Fred Young (drums, percussion, background vocals).
Audio Mixer: Rob Marlette.
Billboard (p.41) - "[T]he band holds its own with the Zeppelin-esque 'Please Come In,' the lickety-split drums of 'The Bitter End' and the deep grime of 'Long Sleeves.'" Kerrang (Magazine) (p.50) - "'Reverend Wrinkle' and 'Long Sleeves' ride a classic Led Zeppelin dynamism as filtered through Audioslave's more muscular modern take." Black Stone Cherry Folklore And Superstition Songs Folklore And Superstition Music Folklore And Superstition Music Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Young Rockers, clever lyrics Hard, fun rock, honest, great lyrics and stories, good message, a new southern version of Blackfoot and Skynryd, these youngsters are practiced, clear and great rock band. Good for commuting to work, the miles roll away, the stereo is turned louder. Submitted by zmjk (Las Vegas NV) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.
Legends in the making Unique, new, great southern rock brought to you through an amazing voice, mean guitars and astounding drums!
After their first album called 'Black Stone Cherry' I fell in love with this band and they surprised me yet again with this great new album.
Coming from Kentucky, USA, these guys know their 'Folklore and Superstition' and give it all in 13 great songs!
From the Blind Man, they ask you to Please Come In and won't let you go untill the Ghost Of Floyd Collins appears and disappears!
Personal favorites: Blind Man, Please Come In, Things My Father Said and Peace Is Free. Submitted by Bertine (Amsterdam, NH, The Netherlands) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 3 of 5 found this helpful.
Good CD but... This CD is not nearly as good as the first one. Still its a good CD and well worth the money. Submitted by geebert42 (Columbia, MO, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Simply Awesome!! Their self titled debut CD was fantastic, but Folklore and Superstition is brilliant. These Kentucky Rockers are going far with their style. As soon as I put it in the CD player I was hooked right away. Don't hesitate... go out and get this CD. It's Simply Awesome!! Submitted by Stratmandoo (Ontario, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Folklore And Superstition album
$8.49 Ultradiscs are mastered from the original master tapes using Mobile Fidelity's proprietary mastering technique, then plated with 24-karat gold and housed in a stress-resistant lift-lock jewel box.
"You Can't Lose What You Ain't Never Had" and "The Same Thing" did not appear on the original version of FOLK SINGER. They were recorded at a separate session in April 1964, three months after FOLK SINGER was released.
The title and cover photo of this 1963 recording were an attempt to cash in on the burgeoning American folk revival, but this is pure acoustic blues. Muddy began his career as a Robert Johnson-style solo acoustic performer, and the tunes on FOLK SINGER hark back to those days. He's accompanied sparsely by Willie Dixon, drummer Clifton James and a young Buddy Guy, who provide a stark, deliberate backdrop for Muddy's rich vocal and expressive bottleneck guitar work. The richness of Muddy's baritone is showcased effectively here, with more room than usual for his voice to resonate.
The low-key setting allows Muddy to explore a fuller dynamic range as well. From the romantic yearning of "Long Distance Call" to the ...

Folklore And Superstition music CDs
$11.09 Before anyone had heard a track from WAR PAINT, the Black Crowes' seventh studio outing, it had already kicked up a PR firestorm. Either by deciding to forego listening to it or by obtaining a leaked download, Maxim Magazine panned the record before they even had an official promotional copy. These aging neo-hippies found themselves as unlikely defenders of the teetering music industry by publicly defaming Maxim and demanding an apology. They got it. Maxim ate, er, crow. Having taken shots since ...

$15.65 In the five years between the two releases, Metallica seem to have gotten back in touch with the raw power of their classic period, with a little help from legendary producer Rick Rubin. One listen to the 10-minute epic "Suicide & Redemption" with its mix of raw rock ferocity and complex musical development should tell you the old Metallica's back in business. Long tracks with complex structures ...

How often can you say that. "ALL MY FRIENDS" is a nine song vocal collection featuring three original songs and one lyrical adaptation by Marguerita Page. The original compositions are: "The Dragonfly", "Peace", the title track "All My Friends", and Charlie Parker's Bebop Jazz classic "Donna Lee", which features a very clever set of original lyrics and ...

$12.59 “How do you feel? Gorgeous. How do you feel? Divine.” These feel good lyrics are from the Feeling Gorgeous track on The Faceless Project’s debut album “Kinky-Ka”. Songs like Candy Fix, the cleanliest dirty song you’ll ever heard, Kinky-Ka, B*itch On Fire and Put It on Me gives this album a heavy spice of kink and dark humor. While tracks like In ...
