Andrea Bocelli long ago set the standard for "crossover" classical tenors, and ANDREA proves yet again that when it comes to ultra-romantic singing, no one does it better. Longtime collaborators Francesco Sartori, Mauro Malavasi, and Celso Valli provide more of the soaring operatic-style ballads and lush production work familar to Bocelli's fans. "Dell'Amore Non Si Sa," "Liberta," and "Tu Ci Sei," among others, are tailor-made for his warm, rich tone and velvety phrasing. Bocelli also enlists some new songwriting talent for a slight change of pace, notably with the flamenco-flavored "Sin Tu Amor" and the atmospheric "Per Noi," as well as "Go Where Love Goes," a duet sung in English with vocal prodigy Holly Stell. Covers of Enrique Iglesias's "Un Nuovo Giorno" (known in English as "The First Day of My Life") and Lucio Dalla's "Quante Volte Ti Ho Cercato" show that the superstar singer doesn't stray far from the usual path; Bocelli knows what his adoring public clamors for, and he never disappoints. Smooth, suave, and sexy, ANDREA is sure to set a multitude of hearts throbbing.

Romantics Vol 7 - Mendelssohn / Atlantis Ensemble
$15.19 Connie’s debut album, Waking or Sleeping is a collection of wide-ranging pieces for classical guitar. Her intent was to bring together a compilation of beautiful and accessible pieces that have affected her personally as a musician and interpreter. Recognizing that music has the power to change and affect us at all times of the day and at all points in life, the pieces on this album string together impressions and snapshots of life as we live it, as harmonious, sentimental, disjointed, and raw as it can be. You’ll hear the jazz-influenced harmonies of Variations on a Theme of Django Reinhardt by Leo Brouwer, the atonal and restless Quatre Pieces Breves by Frank Martin, two liltingly nostalgic Valses by Frederic Chopin, the evocative Castillos de España by FederĂco Moreno Torroba, the mournful and poignant Elegy by Johann Kaspar Mertz, and one of Connie’s own arrangements of traditional hymns entitled \"Three Spiritual Songs.\" The title of the album comes from the words of one of these hymns, which has greatly influenced Connie’s journey as an artist. Waking or Sleeping is an expression of humanity through the power of classical guitar.\"Thou my best thought, by day or by nightWaking or sleeping, thou presence my light.\"-Be Thou My Vision, traditional hymn-- Praised as “a gifted guitarist whose energetic, thoughtful and artistic playing is wonderfully compelling and dynamic” (guitarist Sharon Isbin), American classical guitarist Connie Sheu is at the onset of a burgeoning career as both a performer and a teacher. Her playing has been hailed by the New York Sun as “excellent, ruminative... scholarly.” Past performances and teaching engagements have taken her from Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, to Florida, Oklahoma, Moldova, Hungary, and throughout California.Connie received a Diploma of Study under scholarship at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana with Oscar Ghiglia in Siena, Italy in 2005. She has studied in master classes with guitarists Roland Dyens, Pepe Romero, Christopher Parkening, Matteo Mela, and Lorenzo Micheli, whom she counts among her most influential teachers. She has attended and performed at the Stetson International Guitar Workshop, the Guitar on the Mediterranean Festival in Italy, and the Aspen Music Festival. Born and raised in San Jose, CA, Connie began studying classical guitar at the age of five under Suzuki guitar pedagogue Frank Longay and continued her studies with Sharon Wayne at the Center of Music and Arts in Mountain View. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in U.S. History and Music from Columbia University where she studied with Antigoni Goni and was awarded a Rapaport Music Fellowship. She is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where she earned her Master of Music in 2006 with Sharon Isbin.Connie is a founding member of the newly formed San Diego Guitar Quartet. She is pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts at University of Southern California under Bill Kanengiser.
