Hellboy II: The Golden Army Soundtrack CD

 Good old Elfman is back!
A return to form for the master of gothic yet funny film music! Remember the scores from "Batman" " or "Tales From The Crypt"? All the "La, la, la...", the children's choir and so on? Of course, this is not as "classic" but it does echo the likes of "Darkman" or "Nightbreed" for instance. Despite the fact that there isn't really a major theme for you to humm, several cues are simply haunting. A piece like "A Dilemma", especially at the end, is just as dark, sad and beautiful as the themes Elfman wrote for "Corpse Bride". I wish that title could be longer. But is it just me or does that very piece of melody (the end of "A Dilemma") sounds like what James Newton-Howard did at the end of the piece "Prologue" for "Lady In The Water"? It's for you to judge.
