Melding anarchy and abrasiveness with an arching melody, Massachusetts band the Acacia Strain have created their own corner of the music world; while the four-piece is certainly beholden to death metal and hardcore, to call them metalcore or deathcore would unfairly diminish them. While the band themselves describe their fourth effort, CONTINENT, as their darkest to date, a playfulness still abounds, instantly apparent in titles that reference comic-book villains and sea creatures and TERMINATOR 2. "The Combine" particularly stands out, with a brooding underpinning to make Sabbath proud, buoyed by an understated yet powerful hook.

Continent CD music
$12.55 Slow down, relax, and immerse yourself in an ambient sound journey through spirit, life, and the purest of light. Connect with your inner self -- your Invisible Bird.REVIEW by New Age reviewer Pyracantha:Gregg Plummer, based in arty San Francisco, has been making ambient music for more than a decade. Most of what I've heard of his is seriously moody, much more for contemplation than any kind of driving action. His new album, "Invisible Bird," which is self-published, is definitely in the meditative mood category."Invisible Bird" consists of ten medium-length (5 to 7 minutes long) sound picture pieces, each with an enigmatic abstract title that reveals little. Plummer, at least in this album, does not stray beyond tonality. He builds his pieces from major and modal harmonies, with a couple of the tracks settling into pentatonic sequences. He can build a piece from just a few notes, which would qualify him as a "minimalist," but his textures are lush enough to amplify the minimal harmonies into a larger statement. In this he is similar to Tim Story, and this album does indeed remind me of Story's heartbroken style, especially the last track, "Goodbye for Now". Plummer may be one of the few composers I know who can evoke ...

$15.19 Diane Bray was born and raised on a dairy farm in north central Pennsylvania. It is here that she learned to respect and care for the earth and all the life that it supports. It is here that both sides of her extensive family taught her the importance of family. Every year her paternal family gathers for a holiday weekend, sharing stories and news with upward of 50 extended family members. But the biggest influence on Mrs. Bray's views of family comes from her maternal grandmother and her sisters. They always had stories of their own childhoods, as well as their parents' stories, which they told at Sunday dinners, holiday gatherings, family reunions, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries ... well, you get the picture. Mrs. Bray attended college in New York City, where she lived for many years and where she earned a Juris Doctorate degree. Here she was exposed to multiculturalism in daily life and learned to appreciate diversity. Mrs. Bray has always been a writer. As soon as she learned to read and write she created poems and short stories. Her ability to draw was developed by copying coloring and comic book figures and later, in college, developed to landscapes and still life. She met and married her soul mate in New York City. It is he who has inspired his wife to follow her passion and her dreams. His support along with the encouragement from her family has made her writing endeavors possible. They have one daughter, Sarah, whom they both love and adore.Mr. and Mrs. Bray currently live in Ohio. They moved there from North Carolina to be nearer their families. Mrs. Bray dreams of writing children's books for many years. A Note From The Author I began to write this book to teach children to be responsible for their pets. I wanted to show them that pets are living creatures deserving of proper care and respect. It developed into much more. This book is the first of a series of five. The series encompasses the stories of five generations of iguanas as told by Ellie, of the last generation. It is written at the fourth grade reading level and would be a good bedtime story for younger children. Barbara J. Hawkins, BS, MA Education & Curriculum Development is the editor. William L. Bray Regional ...

$20.25 20 Years of Electronic Music. FYI ::First off. I'm not like everyone else. I'm unique in every way. No one writes music like I do. I'm not boasting, only stating fact. Yes, My goal is to give all proceeds to charities for the poor, needy, hungry, and those at Saint Jude. The children that are being treated for cancer, not even having a chance to live a full life without proper treatments. I owe this to one of my closest family members, in memory of him. I feel driven to do this. Hopefully no one takes offense. It should be of good nature and I really hope those enjoy the music I write.::I started writing music in 1988. Styles have a range from New-Age to Gothic Hard Trance and others in-between like Ambient, Club, House, Techno and Trance. I have hopes of not only others enjoying my music in a club atmosphere but those in the television, music, movie, commercial industries that may want to use my music. I would appreciate not only local DJ's spinning my songs but also those DJ's in the Club Scene. I'd like feedback. There are some more albums to come. Radio Play is another area I'd like attention as a musician. So, Please. ...
