| | Clinic Funf CD Clinic Discography of CDs
Clinic's FUNF is a collection of B-sides that ranks right alongside the group's studio releases as a testament to their inventiveness and particular postmodern charm. With their mix of Wire-like post-punk, `60s psychedelia, minstrel pop, Velvet Underground-style garage, and ecstatic guitar freak-outs, Clinic are the kind of band that seem to carry the history of alternative music alive and well inside them.
It's true that those who like their rock sunny and straightforward won't find much to relish on FUNF, though one of Clinic's tricks is their ability to bury pop gems beneath storms of sonic mayhem. But it's the mayhem, and the whiplash stylistic shifts-- whether the off-kilter siren call "The Majestic," the Renaissance folk of "Christmas," or the blasting punk-pop of "Magic Boots")--that make Clinic ultimately appealing.

Funf
$23.75 KALEIDOSCOPE WORLD contains 10 bonus tracks and represents everything the band recorded through early 1986, including all of the LOST EP, and the I LOVE MY LEATHER JACKET/THE GREAT ESCAPE 12"
KALEIDOSCOPE WORLD, The Chills' 18-track compilation culled from The Chills early and mid-'80s EPs and singles, is highlighted by the song "Pink Frost."
The Chills' Martin Phillipps mixes up melodic pop with elements of garage rock and punk, creating songs with a sweet melancholy all their own. Phillipps has always been the focus of the Chills, writing and singing the band's songs. His group has also rivaled Menudo in its sheer number of personnel ...

| | Killing Floor CD (1995) (Import) With Book; Limited Edition; Digipak; Germany
Funf
$25.39 The sheer toughness -- and overall derivative -- nature of Killing Floor's debut album, issued six months after Led Zeppelin's debut in 1969 on the Spark label, is a wondrous contrast to the overly slick treatment American blues were given by British artists. All of these tunes, with the exception of one, are revamped versions of songs from the blues canon with different words. The lone "cover" in the set was written by Willie Dixon titled "Woman You Need Love," the tune Zep ripped for "Whole Lotta Love." Despite the fact that this set was issued before by Repertoire, the Akarma version is definitive in that it features the original cover artwork in a heavy cardboard gatefold sleeve, and killer sound. This is a raw, immediate, ...
| | Danny Kirwan Second Chapter CD (1975) With Book; Limited Edition; Digipak
Funf
$19.79 The first solo album from Fleetwood Mac singer/songwriter Daniel David Kirwan has the future producer for Human League and Buzzcocks, Martin Rushent, utilizing those skills here, as well as engineering. The sound is crystal clear, and a feather in the cap for Rushent as well as Kirwan. It starts off with an uncharacteristic "Ram Jam City," which has more Lindsey Buckingham sounds than one would expect, especially since the two guitarists come from two different musical worlds. "Odds and Ends" is more lighthearted, the kind of music Paul McCartney toyed with on The White Album's "Rocky Raccoon." What Second Chapter immediately sets forth is the importance of Kirwan as a pop artist, and how, despite Fleetwood Mac's success after he left, his sounds could still have been beneficial to that supergroup. "Hot Summers Day" is a fine example ...
| | Legend CD (2007) (Import) With Book; Limited Edition; Digipak; Germany
Funf
$25.69 In some circles, Mickey Jupp is something of a minor legend, a roots rocker with excellent taste and a cutting wit, best heard on the songs "Switchboard Susan" and "You'll Never Get Me Up in One of Those," both covered by Nick Lowe. Basher's endorsement is a clear indication that Jupp is a pub rocker, a guy who specializes in laid-back good times, so it shouldn't come as a great surprise that his first band, Legend, was proto-pub, an unabashed celebration of old-time rock & roll, ...

This album stands out in the 2008 kids' music market because it actually sounds like an album for children. This point was driven home for me as I watched my two-year-old daughter react to Be Nice... my daughter has always loved music, but I've never seen an album hold her attention right away like this." - Jeff Giles, Editor-In-Chief, Popdose"Sweet songs about small moments make a big impact. This well-produced and imaginative collection of children's music has enough variety to engage older siblings and parents as well as toddlers. Prepare to be charmed by sparkling vocals and instrumental tracks... an impressive degree of taste and musicianship."***** (5 stars out of 5) - Kathi Goldmark, Common Sense Media"Duo Ilene Altman and Steve Equi play and sing everything on Be Nice, and their simple, clean production keeps the performances low-key and intimate. They use Pop, Rock, R&B, Reggae, Doo-Wop, Tin Pan Alley, and Country styles on songs about friends, grammar, playgrounds, dictionaries, and kids' neverending questions about life. And dig 'Know What the Nos Are,' a Queen-like tune about all the things kids aren't supposed to do, that sounds like a junior 'Bohemian Rhapsody;' and 'Sometimes I Just Need a Hug,' a sweet ballad that could have been cowritten with James Taylor, Carole King, and Paul Simon." - Warren Truitt, Children's Music That Rocks, Sr. Children's Librarian, NY Public Library"The title is irresistible and their story is just as nice. Our kids loved 'Stinky Diaper' and moms loved 'It’s Not Nice.' From rock to country, the lyrics are sweet and fun while giving all of us a good message: Be nice!" - Heather ...
