Scene Changes/Lightly Latin
$10.69 HONEY originally released on Columbia (9662). HAPPY HEART originally released on Columbia (9844). Includes liner notes by Mark Marymont.
Andy Williams' successive LP releases of 1968 and 1969, Honey and Happy Heart, are well-paired on this two-fer CD reissue. At this point in his career, the versatile Williams, who had found his greatest success covering movie theme songs, but also ranged from light rock to venerable standards, was completely devoted to recording his versions of current hits. It was a popular notion at the time that middle-of-the-road singers like him could maintain their popularity by turning to soft rock, and Williams proved that theory by reaching the Top Ten and earning gold records with these LPs, which featured his versions of songs better known in recordings by Glen Campbell, Simon & Garfunkel, the Association, the 5th Dimension, Stevie Wonder, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, and others. Williams changed the original arrangements only slightly; ...
| | Andy Williams Love Theme From The Godfather/The Way We Were CD (2002)
Scene Changes/Lightly Latin
$10.39 In its matching up of Andy Williams titles for a two-fer release, Collectables Records has opted to combine Williams' spring 1972 album Love Theme From "The Godfather" with his spring 1974 album The Way We Were, skipping over his fall 1972 album Alone Again (Naturally) and his fall 1973 album Solitaire. (Those two are together on another disc.) The theory may have been that these two both had something to do with the movies while the two in between did not, but in fact all of these albums take the same approach, more or less. That approach is to have Williams present his interpretations of songs from the pop charts of the period. As it happens, these two albums mark significant milestones for the singer, albeit of opposite sorts. Buoyed by the success of the title track, which was Williams' last Top 40 pop hit, Love Theme From "The Godfather" was his last significant seller, his final gold album. The Way We Were, on the other hand, was a commercial disaster, Williams' first LP to miss the Billboard chart entirely since he joined Columbia Records in 1961. (It ...
| | Patti Page Today My Way/Honey Come Back CD (2003)
Scene Changes/Lightly Latin
$10.65 This two-fer from Collectables features a pair of out of print Patti Page LPs, Today My Way and Honey Come Back, originally released on Columbia in 1967 and 1970, respectively. These albums zero in on easy listening versions of popular love songs from the '60s and early '70s. The rather formulaic treatments work best on the well-known compositions of the period, especially "Gentle On My Mind," "Can't Take My Eyes Off You," and "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head." Not an essential purchase for casual listeners, but fans who have been waiting for these LPs to make the switch to CD will appreciate ...
| | Dean Martin Winter Romance CD (1959)
Scene Changes/Lightly Latin
$11.79 A Winter Romance is perhaps best described as a "seasonal" album rather than a Christmas or holiday release, despite the inclusion of such familiar fare as "White Christmas" and "Winter Wonderland." Dean Martin has also included such standards as "The Things We Did Last Summer" and "June in January," as well as some specially written material such as Sammy Cahn and Ken Lane's title song and "It Won't Cool Off." Nevertheless, with its lush strings, well-scrubbed vocal choruses and buoyant mood, this collection has an appropriately festive feel. Martin does a competent job, even having fun here and there when the song allows him to present his take on a similar baritone (Bing Crosby on "White Christmas," Vaughn Monroe on "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!") or when the subject matter strays to something more comfortably suggestive like "Baby, ...

| | Club99 Life Skafari CD (2006)
Scene Changes/Lightly Latin
$13.15 It was the year 1999 (as you can deduce from the name club99) when Robert, Patrick and Chris, three young friends from the roundabouts of Bolzano (I), decided to play ska music and began forming what was to become the very first ska band in the history of their own home country South Tyrol, (Italy).Today the band counts 8 musicians: Lead vocal, guitar, bass, drum, trumpet, alto-sax, tenor-sax and keyboard). In december 1999 the band performed the first live show, and it was a big success. Thanks to the songs, which invite everyone to dance and the vibrant, energetic live show, Club99 became a well known name in the music-scene of South Tyrol. In the following years Club99 succeeded in exporting their music out of the own homecountry, many concerts in Italy and in foreign countries followed. During the last 5 years Club99 plays about 150 concerts in Italy, Austria, Germany,Switzerland, ...
