| | Dory Previn Live At Carnegie Hall Soundtrack CD (1 Customer Review)
This mid-'70s double album trawls through the highlights of Dory Previn's four previous works, with two new songs added. The material on Live at Carnegie Hall is enriched by audience reaction and occasional raucous laughter, rather than the playing, which is competent but staid in parts. It is certainly gratifying to hear an artist so clearly nervous eliciting such a warm and enthusiastic response, but that aside, there's nothing that makes these renditions any better or worse than their studio counterparts. But Previn's guileless, untutored voice is a touching instrument live, and the between-song chat is witty and affecting. Of the two new songs, "Be Careful, Baby, Be Careful" is the best -- a cabaret-style ballad in which she sings, "Kick a person when she's up/And you can break her spirit you know/But kick a person when she's down/And all you'll break is your toe." ~ Charles Donovan

| | Twilight New Moon Twilight Saga: New Moon: The Score CD (2009) Original Soundtrack
Live At Carnegie Hall Soundtrack album
$14.50 Virtually every aspect of the Twilight saga was taken to a grander scale with New Moon, the second film in the series of screen adaptations of Stephenie Meyers' books. This reflected not just the success of the first movie, but the wider scope of New Moon's story, which encompassed werewolves and Italian vampire royalty along with girl-falls-in-love-with-vampire, vampire-breaks-girl's-heart drama. The film's score, which is composed and conducted by Alexandre Desplat and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, is certainly bigger, but not always better, than Carter Burwell's music for Twilight. Desplat takes a ...

Live At Carnegie Hall Soundtrack music CDs
$28.89 Canadian jazz singer Theresa Sokyra's debut album mixes folk originals and updates of jazz standards. Tracks include "God Bless This Child", "This Masquerade", and "Summertime".
With a sultry, jazzy voice and killer yet innocent charm, Theresa Sokyrka won the hearts of many Canadians during the summer of 2004. Following her runner-up finish on Canadian Idol, Sokyrka, like first season runner-up Gary Beals, was heavily expected to fade back into obscurity, to go back to performing her Jann Arden covers and Porgy and Bess show tunes in her native Saskatchewan. However, that wasn't meant to be. Sokyrka ...
