Tributee: Seaweed.Alternative Press (p.149) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[T]he best cuts are where the artists reinterpret Seaweed's vision. The Company We Keep get ambient on their interpretation of 'Steadfast Shrine,' while the Action Design steal the show with a sweet take on 'Kid Candy'..." Kerrang (Magazine) (p.52) - "[T]he influence of their proto-post-hardcore has clearly been felt by those acts assembled for this tribute." Hours And Hours: A Tribute To Seaweed album
$15.45 When he was recording his debut album in 2006, Chris Daughtry didn't have the time to assemble the real rock band he so desperately wanted to have, so it appeared under the band name Daughtry without featuring any of the musicians who later became part of the group. That's not the case with LEAVE THIS TOWN, Daughtry's second record: all five members are glowering on the album cover, floating like ...

Hours And Hours: A Tribute To Seaweed CD music
$12.19 It's no secret that Sting is a serious man, so it's only logical that his holiday album -- his first new music since the Police reunion, not that it really matters -- is a serious endeavor, thank you. No niceties for him, no comforts of carols; he favors formal over familiar, writing madrigals, not ditties. It is music made by someone who lives in a castle, which isn't necessarily such a bad thing: the austerity is genuine, not affected, and the cerebral nature of the album is fascinating, albeit mildly so, as this is as sleepy as it is thoughtful. And it's that thoughtfulness that does distinguish IF ON A WINTER NIGHT...; no other Christmas album exists in the head like this. It's a holiday album for people who have never wanted to hear a holiday album, let alone own one.
It's no secret that Sting is ...
| | Mawwal This Is All There Is, There Is No Other Place CD (2008)
Hours And Hours: A Tribute To Seaweed music CDs
$10.65 Inventive vocal arrangements in English and Arabic is supported by a laouto (Greek lute) and augmented by traditional percussion (tabla, dumbek, frame drum, riq) and violin in what has been called a "new genre" by Progression Magazine. "Unconventional, fantastical and delightfully extravagant, Mawwal's This Is All There Is There Is No Other Place is magically mesmerizing.' -WORLD MUSIC CENTRAL'From the first track, listening to Mawwal's this is all there is, there is no other place is like absorbing some bizarre hallucinogenic compound through your armpits in a Waziristan sweat lodge. Drawing heavily on traditional Middle Eastern/ South Asian music and academic icons like Joe Zawinul and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the contemporary arrangement of these rooted-in-tradition pieces is, well, seriously cool. ' -Tom Sturm (Valley Advocate) 'For the first impression of Black Flies, it's hard to get beyond "wow!"... For me, this is what "progressive" music is all about.... For my taste, this is album is just about perfect in every way. The compositions are intricate and engaging and the musical performances are nothing short of spectacular.... a fascinating brew. Bumping this album off my "Best of 2007" list this year will be quite a feat, Black Flies is essential! -- Fred Trafton/Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive rock In my experience, Mawwal's world fusion is ...
