Very British Gangster DVD In A Very British Gangster, world-renowned, award-winning BBC journalist Donal MacIntyre dives into Manchester's underworld, revealing Britain's most notorious and powerful crime family-the Noonan dynasty. With surprising chivalry, Dominic Noonan answers to his poverty-stricken streets while lurking from trial to trial, dodging arrest on a slew of serious criminal charges. Dominic's 10-year-old son, Bugsy, wants none of the prestige his father holds, and his candid confessions of boxing dreams-hopeful words from the child of a very violent man—are heart-wrenching.

Very British Gangster review
$9.69 Jamie Foxx stars in this biopic of legendary soul and R&B singer Ray Charles. Skillfully edited and with a keen eye for period detail, the narrative weaves in and out of the past in an interlocking tapestry of the man's rise to fame in the 1950s and '60s. Growing up poor, black, and blind in the rural south, Charles learns--under the tutelage of his tough-love mother (Sharon Warren)--to turn these handicaps into assets. With this training, Ray eventually plays his way into a major deal with Paramount records and earns icon status as an American legend. Along the way, the high cost of fame leads him to engage in abusive relationships, manipulative behavior, and struggles with drug and alcohol problems. This is a dynamite film for the music alone (Charles's actual recordings are used in the film), but Foxx's career-benchmark performance transcends RAY's biopic roots, turning this into a piercing, full-on character study: unflinching, sometimes ...

Very British Gangster video
$10.55 In THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT, Milos Forman expertly directs the viewer's sympathy toward Larry Flynt (Woody Harrelson in a superb performance): smut peddler, misogynist, and Editor in Chief of the infamous Hustler magazine. Born in the back woods of Appalachia, the young Flynt--in an opening scene that immediately grabs and amuses--is seen selling moonshine as a child to alcoholic hermits. Flash forward to the 1960s, and he's running a go-go club where he meets the wild (and strangely loveable) Althea Leasure (Courtney Love) who becomes his soul mate and wife. Life is not as sweet as it first seems for the porn king who finds a massive readership for his magazine (the first to show crotch shots). He soon finds himself in the middle of several Supreme ...

Very British Gangster review
Bernie Rubens (Gregg Sulkin) is a nerdy 12-year-old preparing for his Bar Mitzvah, which he wants to be a huge, ornate affair. However, his parents, Manny (Eddie Marsan) and Esther (Helena Bonham Carter), have accidentally scheduled it for the day of the 1966 World Cup final, so if England makes it, no one is expected to show for Bernie's big day. In the meantime, Manny, a depressed and depressing man unable to find any kind of happiness in his life, thinks the local grocery he runs with his slick brother, Jimmy (Peter Serafinowicz), can do battle with the supermarket conglomerate that has moved in next door. Once again, sad-sack Manny has made the wrong choice, leaving him with limited funds, unable to give Bernie the party he wants so badly. As England surprisingly starts playing better, Bernie begins rooting for his home team to lose; meanwhile, his breathing problems worsen, sending him to see Dr. Barrie (Stephen Rea), a big soccer fan who has some serious problems of his own. Based on director Paul Weiland's own experiences, SIXTY SIX, with a script by Peter Straughan and Bridget O'Connor, is a gentle, deeply touching film about the ups and downs of childhood--as well as the joys and sorrows ...

Very British Gangster DVD
$12.89 After making a bloody splash with his redo of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, director Marcus Nispel tackles another beloved horror franchise with FRIDAY THE 13TH. SUPERNATURAL's Jared Padalecki, DISTURBIA's Aaron Yoo, and CLOVERFIELD's Odette Yustman star in this remake that finds camp counselors being picked off one by one. FREDDY VS. JASON screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift provide the script, while Michael Bay serves as one of the film's producers.
Following his remake of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, director Marcus Nispel tackles 1980's slasher favorite to bring unstoppable killing machine Jason Voorhees to a new generation of gorehounds. Lasting 10 films and going to any length (including New York City and outer space) to provide Jason with fresh meat, the FRIDAY THE 13th series was always about inventive death scenes. Nispel streamlines the events of the original (where Jason’s mother was the killer) into an extended prologue before providing an original story in which Jason begins his killing spree and finds his iconic mask. Decades after the death of Jason's mother, a group of twentysomethings descends on the backwoods town near abandoned Camp Crystal Lake in search of a rumored marijuana crop. Whitney Miller (Amanda Righetti) finds the old Voorhees house and discovers a locket revealing that she resembles Jason’s mother. Jason (Derek Mears) arrives and, thinking she is his mother reincarnated, holds Whitney captive. Weeks later, Trent (Travis Van Winkle) and his friends arrive to stay at his father’s vacation home, while Clay (Jared Padalecki) shows up to look for his missing sister Whitney. Meanwhile, Jason finds a hockey mask to cover his startling face and begins to satisfy ...
