Starring Bela Lugosi, Tor Johnson, Lyle Talbot, Dudley Manlove, Paul Marco, Vampira
Director Edward D. Wood, Jr.
Standard Screen; Soundtrack English

If some creatures from outer space have their way, the earth's dead will rise again to conquer the living. One of the most famous of all cult classics -- fans claim it's the worst film ever, and love it for just that.

PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE is Ed Wood's unintentionally hilarious film in which aliens plan to take over the world by resurrecting only three corpses. Horror icon Bela Lugosi died during production and was replaced by a chiropractor who hid his face behind a cape. The film also features Vampira and wrestler Tor Johnson. Quite possibly the best bad movie ever made, PLAN 9, with its hubcap flying saucers on strings, is sure to entertain.

Released as part of the Wade Williams Collection (copyright renewed 1986). Filmed in Hollywood, California. Bela Lugosi, who stars in the picture, died four days into the shoot, and had to be replaced by a double (who was actually the chiropractor of Ed Wood's wife).

Plan 9 From Outer Space Quotes/Excerpts:

"My friends, can your heart stand the shocking facts about grave robbers from outer space?" (Criswell, in opening) "We haven't always fired at them... For a time, we tried to contact them by radio, but no response. Then they attacked a town. A small town, I'll admit, but nevertheless a town of people. People who died." (Colonel Edwards) "Plan 9,... Ah yes, Plan 9 deals with the resurrection of the dead. Long distance electrodes shot into the pineal and pituitary glands of recent dead..." (Ruler to Eros) "We do not want to conquer your planet, only save it... If you persist in denying us our landings, then we must only accept that you do not want us on friendly terms. We then have no alternative but to destroy you before you destroy us. With your ancient juvenile minds, you have developed explosives too fast for your minds to conceive what you are doing. You are on the verge of destroying the entire universe. We are part of that universe..." (Eros, in a message to Earth) "Well, wouldn't it be better to kill a few now, than, with their meddling, permit them to destroy the entire universe?" (Eros to his cohort, Tanna)

Plan 9 From Outer Space Reviews:

"...The fondly regarded auteur's best known work..." -- Danny Leigh, Sight and Sound

"...It's the divine inspiration for everything from MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 to Tim Burton's Oscar-winning Ed Wood..." -- Entertainment Weekly Staff, Entertainment Weekly

4 stars Elvira, who?
One of my favorite horror films. Sexy, thought-provoking, and fun. Vampira steals the show; the original ghoul girl does it again, and she has no competition.

5 stars It's so bad you'll love it!...
After seeing Tim Burton's Ed Wood I realized I needed to watch this movie, let me tell you the DVD quality is excellent and the bonus material is really interesting, a must for everyone interested in "the worst director of history".

5 stars Plan time to figure out the Movie
From the start, Plan 9 did not have much of a budget. In fact, it looked as if they had nothing to budget with, but hey, they gave it their all. Our story has flying saucers being spotted, then a Funeral taking place at night(Hey, everyone could go, they'd all be out of work by then!)But one of my favorite spots in the movie was the shower curtains they used. See the movie and you'll see that shower curtains were used as High tec barriers in the Airplane and the Space ship. By now you have seen that this review has offered you no insight into plan 9, that's because there is no insight in Plan 9. They never say just what plan 9 is. Buy this Moive from CD Universe and see for yourself if it really Happend!! This was a really bad B-Movie and I loved it. I have watched it twice.

Melvins 26 Songs CD  (2003)

Plan 9 From Outer Space film
CD $13.95  Top 500 Audio Samples
The appropriately titled 26 SONGS appends 16 bonus tracks to the Melvins' 10 SONGS CD. 10 Songs was itself a fine if short view of the Melvins soon after they started, but 26 Songs, a thorough expansion of the original CD to include just about every last demo and early comp appearance and more that they could get their hands on from those days, takes the cake as the truly necessary release. Besides some beautifully scabrous liner notes from, presumably, Buzz Osborne -- whose description of the group's shabby treatment via certain more popular groups from Seattle is brief but eye-opening -- the release benefits from better sound, cover art in line with the group's recent Ipecac efforts, and more loud, fuzzy monstrosity than one could almost handle. After the original ten songs, the bonus tracks start with the original 6 Songs single -- the tracks were all redone for 10 Songs but are, in fact, slightly earlier recordings. Mastered from glorious crackly vinyl, it's even more of a murky tromp through such songs as "Easy as It Was" and "At a Crawl," but that's definitely part of the appeal, and Osborne sounds even more guttural and unhinged on "Now a Limo" and "Grinding Process." More crackle turns up on the three following songs, all outtakes from that session -- besides two further alternates is "Set Me Straight" -- more crunchy sludge madness that's not quite winsome pop ...

Plan 9 From Outer Space review
CD $10.09  4 stars Audio Samples
Much has been said about the Melvins' formative years -- they inspired Kurt Cobain to start a band, they single-handedly invented grunge by slowing down punk rock to a snail's crawl (etc., etc.). But as evidenced by the majority of the songs that comprise Mangled Demos from 1983, there was very little metal in their sound at this time, as they started as a noisy punk band. Granted, they were one heck of a noisy punk band, as evidenced by such speed-of-light thrashers as "If You Get Bored," "I'm Dry," and "The Real You." But the biggest standout here is a great take of their early ...

Those prepared to hate the reboot of STAR TREK--whether they’re diehard fans or those in the anti-sci-fi camp--may be convinced to lower their shields after seeing this fun, action-filled film. Best known for creating mythology-driven series like LOST, J.J. Abrams has imbued his version with the elements that have made his shows such mind-bending entertainment while still keeping the soul of the saga intact. STAR TREK begins with an attack by an impossibly advanced Romulan ship captained by the tattooed, snarling Nero (Eric Bana). Among the survivors is the infant version of James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), who grows up to wreak havoc on the Iowa countryside. When Captain Christopher Pike (Bruce Greenwood) meets an adult Kirk, he encourages him to join Starfleet, giving him the opportunity to meet Spock (Zachary Quinto), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), and the rest of the characters audiences have loved for decades. Abrams has assembled a fine cast who seem to be aware of their predecessors but never resort to impressions. Both Quinto and Pine do a fine job with their portrayals of Kirk and Spock, and Karl Urban couldn’t be better as Leonard McCoy. The supporting players--Simon Pegg (Scotty), John Cho (Sulu), and Anton Yelchin (Chekov)--all capture the essence of what drove their characters, though ...

Based on a story by STAR WARS creator George Lucas, WILLOW is director Ron Howard's fantasy world of medieval adventure. WILLOW stars Val Kilmer as Madmartigan, a swashbuckling warrior, and Warwick Davis as the title character. In a mythical kingdom, the evil sorceress Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh) plots to kill all infants so that the newborn princess, Elora, will never take over the throne. But a midwife sets the baby adrift in a river, and she is rescued by Willow, a farmer in Nelwyn, a peaceful village of trolls, fairies, and little folk. Willow and Madmartigan begin a quest to deliver the baby from evil while being chased by Queen Bavmorda's daughter, Sorsha (Joanne Whalley), sent to bring the baby back to Nockmaar. Director Howard benefited from his affiliation with George Lucas on the film--Lucas's company, Industrial Light and Magic, contributed the Oscar-nominated special effects. Lucas, the executive producer ...
