| | Yasmin Levy Mano Suave CD (2007)
Apopse M'Egatelipses CD music
$13.49 Yasmin Levy has proved herself to be the leading exponent of Ladino song (Ladino is the language of the Sephardic Jews whose roots are in Spain). However, her previous albums have never quite captured her potential. This time, though, she's hit the spot, finding both the intensity of performance and delicacy of arrangement that's been her hallmark. The style is a mix of influences that blend perfectly -- listen carefully and you can hear traces of flamenco nestled alongside Middle Eastern music, with influences from around the Mediterranean liberally scattered across the sound. Her voice is in glorious form, with a depth of purity that illustrates ...

Apopse M'Egatelipses music CDs
$7.55 Laura Pausini, a multilingual Italian pop singer who won a Latin Grammy in 2005 for Best Female Pop Vocal Album, decided to record an album of cover songs when she returned to the studio to record her follow-up effort. This is a fairly standard practice for pop/rock artists, of course, especially in the wake of a mammoth success like the one Pausini experienced with Resta in Ascolto (released concurrently in Spanish as Escucha in the Americas). Yo Canto (likewise released concurrently in Spanish) is a somewhat unusual covers album, however, for it's comprised of Italian pop/rock songs from the 1970s, '80s, and '90s -- few, if any, of which will be familiar to listeners across the Atlantic. Pausini performs the songs in a manner similar to that of Resta in Ascolto: the songs are heavily produced, layered with guitar, bass, and drums in addition to strings and synthesizers, and the performances are quite dramatic, often soaring to intense heights during the choruses, complemented by lyrics that are moody and poetic. Apopse M'Egatelipses album
$16.45 Based in Central Oregon, Elliot is a five-piece indie rock group. Elliot’s guitarist and lead writer, Casey Parnell explains the influence of the band’s home town on their music.“We love where we’re from. Central Oregon is such a rugged and inspiring place to live. The whole Northwest is such a musical melting pot. We couldn’t really help falling into it…”Seattle’s grunge, Portland’s coffee shop acoustic vibe, all the way to Central Oregon’s own folksy bluegrass movement have lent influence to their sound. Aggressive and ethereal guitars, soft languid pianos, and pop vocal arrangements make their latest offering, “Rocketships” ...
