Motörhead: Lemmy Kilmister (vocals, bass guitar); Phil Campbell (guitars); Mikkey Dee (drums).
Audio Mixer: Cameron Webb.
The speed-fueled, booze-soaked lifestyle of Motörhead leader Lemmy Kilmister should have separated him from our planet long ago, but here we are marveling at the release of the band's unthinkable 24th album. MOTORIZER is Motörhead, pure and simple. Their rumbling, tar-black motorbike sound is fully intact and uncompromised, with mission statements like the hard-charging, punky "Rock Out" showcasing their knack for a stadium-filling anthem. Lemmy's voice is seasoned to perfection with Virginia tobacco and Tennessee whiskey, and roadhouse rockers like "Back on the Chain" and "(Teach You How To) Sing the Blues" find him in fine form. If you're looking for evolution or musical experimentation, look elsewhere, but if you just want to hear uncut rock and roll, MOTORIZER should do the trick.
Even if Motörhead had broken up around 1983 or 1984, they still would have gone down in history as one of the most influential metal outfits of all time. Motörhead, after all, was the first metal band to seriously incorporate punk; they wrote the book on thrash metal and speed metal in the late '70s and early '80s, paving the way for Slayer, Metallica, Venom, Megadeth, Testament, Anthrax, Death, Exodus, and countless others. But Motörhead, of course, didn't break up in 1983 or 1984, and they were still cranking out quality albums in the late 2000s. Lemmy Kilmister (who turned 62 in 2007) shows no signs of slowing down on 2008's Motorizer, which Cameron Webb produced at Dave Grohl's 606 Studios in Los Angeles. Despite the fact that Webb has worked with a lot of alt rock and alt metal artists (including Limp Bizkit, Orgy, Godsmack, Buckcherry, Lit, Ben Folds, and Monster Magnet) and produced this 39-minute CD in a studio that is owned by a member of the Foo Fighters and ex-member of Nirvana, Motorizer makes no effort to be alternative-sounding. Instead, the classic Motörhead sound prevails, and forceful, in-your-face tracks such as "Buried Alive," "Runaround Man," "When the Eagle Screams," and "Time Is Right" sound like they could have been recorded 25 years earlier. Motorizer never pretends to be groundbreaking, but if the material is predictable, it is engagingly predictable; Kilmister sounds inspired and focused throughout the album, and at 62, he has yet to overstay his welcome. Motorizer falls short of essential and isn't quite in a class with Motörhead's best late-'70s/early-'80s output, but this album is definitely respectable -- and it is good to see this seminal thrash/speed trio still plugging away after so many years in metal's trenches. ~ Alex HendersonKerrang (Magazine) (p.50) - "MOTORIZERis a solid Motorhead album, one which places its faith in the one thing Lemmy is still willing to believe in -- rock'n'roll."
Mojo (Publisher) (p.110) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[T]his is an utterly unbridled outing....They deliver thunderously within parameters ranging from Ramonesy punk/thrash to Ted Nugenty riffola..."
Record Collector (magazine) (p.94) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "There's much vitality about the trio's latest LP....When Lemmy, Phil Campbell and the monstrously-good drummer Mikkey Dee are on form, they pack one hell of a punch."

5 stars One of Motorhead's Best
Motorhead just keeps shaking, rattling and rolling along and for those that believe that Lemmy would eventually slow down, think again. Motorhead's 20th or 21st studio album (I lost count), is one of Motorhead's finest, bringing to mind my faves such as Overkill, Ace of Spades, Iron Fist, Orgasmatron, Overnight Sensation and Inferno. bottom line, "Motorizer" rocks hard and for those of you out there like me, who love the Motorhead sound, the arrival of Motorizer is akin to the ultimate sense of renewal. There are lots of guitar notes, even more bass notes, and plenty of accomplished drum fills to boot...did I mention LOTS of bass notes!!! Lemmy is basically a HEMI in that the exertion of mechanical & maniacal power never ceases. Recorded with a serious punch to the gut, Motorhead's latest DELIVERS what the fans have come to expect; a virtual arsenal of sonically played & devilishly masterful metal. Bottom line, Motorhead still sounds like a runaway train wreck purposefully riding & crushing the hot rails to hell!

5 stars Great
1st For the dick who give it 3 stars by saying it sounds the same. Maybe you should listen to Metallica if you want the same sounds. Motorhead kicks ass. I will say it has more of a Blues theme but it don't sound the same as older Motorhead. I hear of A Lemmy Movie is this true?

5 stars Lemmy is God
As Brendan Fraser and Steve Buscemi ask a dude in the movie AIRHEADS " Who'd win in a wrestling match, Lemmy or God? The dude first answers Lemmy, then swithes to God. It is at this point that Steve Buscemi make possibly the most poiniant statement ever made, " Wrong, dickhead, trick question. Lemmy *IS* God ". I don't know what else to say, except when you listen to this album it will pin you up against the nearest wall and hold you there from the first chord on the album to the last. If you are even considering for a second to take a trip on this Rock and Roll train, climb aboard and be ready to be a Lemmy fan for life if you are not already. ALL ABOARD.

5 stars How good is it?
Last sunday I blew the engine in my 2004 expedition while driving my four kids to soccer with the music cranked. Crank it up and enjoy!

5 stars Told You So, and so on and so on.......Still.
At thirty-seven, I'm still a young man. Well, ain't I? Still, I've been watching the decline of real musical talent since the rise of 'New Country' in around the mid eighties. Sham. Rolling Stones rip-offs. Rap was getting heavier, and Heavy Metal piqued as The Clash of The Titans tour wound itself around the world in 1990. Then, thanks to Nirvana, and heroin addiction, Heavy Metal returned to It's Netherworld. Only this time, upon It's return, we've been swarmed by whiny, two-chord wannabes, who all 'sing' alike. Can't tell one from the other, just like 'New Country". Well, maybe three chords. You tell me. But for thirty-three years, underneath the Chinease firedrill(known as the music industry), Motorhead remain. Throughout every musical fashion conceived by any baby-eating record label, in one year into another, Lemmy retains his stature not unlike the Tyrannosaurus Rex. And he's got the two most ferocious players on his side. A three-piece. Nowadays, unheard of....This new disc, MOTORIZER, will staple you to the back wall(and that's in your own dwelling). You'll fully understand if you ever see them live... But afterward, you won't be able to hear me say 'I Told You So....

This Canadian electro-pop duo notoriously avoid the use of laptops and pre-recorded samples, choosing to create their raucous dance tracks with analog synths, beat pads, and keytar. The choice gives HEART ATTACK's 10 tracks a rare energy, and sets Woodhands apart from their innumerable competitors. The spastic twists and turns of the awesome "Can't See Straight" are a direct result of the no-laptop method--you almost never hear the same beat or melodic fragment twice. "Dance" is a ridiculously energetic banger, and "Breaking Up" bares the duo's sensitive side, with only the slightest hint of irony.
Toronto's Woodhands mine similarly vigorous, often abrasive, electronic dance-punk territory to the likes of Austin's Ghostland Observatory and England's Does It Offend You, Yeah? (those are just among the more recently notable of an extensive, overcrowded lineage). Their main point of distinction being that they do it all non-digitally, with real drums, analog synths, keytars, and so ...
