| | Bad Company Burnin' Sky CD Bad Company Discography of CDs
(1 Customer Review)
Bad Company had seriously began to wane from critical favor with the release of BURNIN' SKY. Congratulated for the no-frills approach on their debut, Bad Company was subsequently taken to task for sticking with the dynamic that made them a great band in the first place! While nearly every other supergroup in rock history (excepting the Traveling Wilburys) succumbed quickly to the inviting airs of self-importance, Bad Company consistently fueled itself on boiling its blues-based rock down to its barest elements.
The title track alone is a potent reminder of the band's stripped down power and Rodgers' considerable vocal prowess. Even at his most passionate, Rodgers never gives in to histrionics or superfluous emoting. With a simple kick drum and snare pushing him, Rodgers rides over the insinuating two-chord riff in full rock & roll glory.
All tracks have been digitally remastered.
Recorded at Le Chateau Studios, Herouville, France in July & August, 1976.
Bad Company: Paul Rodgers (vocals, piano, guitar); Mick Ralphs (guitar); Boz Burrell (bass); Simon Kirke (drums).
Additional personnel: Mel Collins (flute, saxophone).

| | Deep Purple Machine Head CDs (1972) Remastered; Deluxe Edition
Burnin' Sky CD music
$10.75 This package contains the original MACHINE HEAD plus quadrophonic mixes of 2 songs on one disc, MACHINE HEAD remixed by Roger Glover in 1998, and a 28 page booklet.
A probable contender for one of hard rock's "all-time most influential albums," Deep Purple's MACHINE HEAD has all the markings of a heavy classic. It was here that the band's combination of amped-up blues, progressive instrumental prowess, screaming guitars, and thunderous rhythms was crystallized for the ages, helping to lay the foundation for hard rock and heavy metal throughout the '70s, '80s, and '90s. The lone presence of "Smoke on the Water" immediately elevates the album to essential status. The song became a long-running radio staple, and boasts one of the most instantly recognizable guitar riffs in rock history.
Yet the rest of the album holds up impressively, from the adrenaline-soaked opener "Highway Star," in which organist Jon Lord and guitarist Richie Blackmore trade off dazzling solos, to the churning "Space Truckin'," another riff-driven rocker. Vocalist Ian Gillian, whose dramatic, ...
| | Rainbow Rising CD (1976) Remastered
Burnin' Sky music CDs
$6.49 As the drums kick into the fierce opener "Tarot Woman," it's obvious that RISING delivers directly to your door. It is the band's second release, and a vast improvement over RICHIE BLACKMORE'S RAINBOW. With a revamped lineup that sounds like it had been touring together for years, the album takes no prisoners. "Starstruck" is a classic groove reminiscent of guitarist Blackmore's ex-band Deep Purple. Blackmore replaced everyone from ...

| | Blackfoot Highway Song Live CD (1982)
Burnin' Sky album
$12.39 Like their Native American ancestors before them, the members of Blackfoot must have known what it felt like to be exiled from their homeland. Only, rather than being forced into an Indian reservation, the world's first all-Native American hard rock band found itself trying to scrape together a good wage across the pond, where U.K. audiences couldn't seem to get enough of its uniquely metallic, Skynyrd-derived Southern rock. Despite experiencing diminishing returns in the good ol' U.S. of A., all three of their studio albums for Atco had been warmly embraced here, leading to nearly two years of incessant touring. Such acclaim eventually led to demands for a live album, which the band duly recorded with the help of the Rolling Stones' mobile studio during a three-month jaunt across the British Isles in 1982. Named Highway Song Live after the band's biggest (and most "Freebird"-like) hit, it was recorded in the spirit of the classic live albums of the '70s, with explosive performances of such ...
| | Deep Purple Who Do We Think We Are? CD (1973) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Burnin' Sky CD music
$10.45 After establishing itself as a hard-rock giant, thanks to endless touring and the release of such milestone records as MACHINE HEAD and IN ROCK, Deep Purple was in a state of turmoil when it went into the studio to record 1972's WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE? Despite all the infighting, the band pulled together long enough to record seven tracks that only bolstered the band's reputation.
The best-known song, "Woman From Tokyo," boasted a riff as memorable as the one that defined "Smoke on the Water" and was later admitted by Ritchie Blackmore to have been cribbed from Eric Clapton's "Cat Squirrel." Although Blackmore's ...

| | Robert Calvert Hype (Songs Of Tom Mahler) CD (1980)
Burnin' Sky songs
$13.65 "Hype" was the soundtrack to the novel of the same title, which was the soundtrack to the play of the same title, and features one of the all time Calvert classics, "Lord of the Hornets." In addition, this CD reissue comes with some bonus tracks comprising of different mixes & demo versions of some of the tracks on the original album.
Released to accompany one of the best rock novels of all time, former Hawkwind vocalist Calvert's Hype is part concept album, part soundtrack, and wholly the most underrated project Calvert was ever involved in. The novel, also titled Hype, follows the short career of Tom Mahler, a rising rock star whose career is marked by one of the most ambitious media hypes of all time -- and ended by the greatest masterstroke of all, a bullet in the head on the eve of his breakthrough. The album, then, draws from Mahler's own catalog of songs, a dozen punchy, electronics-driven vignettes with titles like "Hanging out on the Seafront," "The Luminous Green Glow of the Dials of the Dashboard (At Night)," and "Lord of the Hornets," a single ...
