Sharing The Night album
$14.69 One of the masterpieces of the roots era, no album better defines its time and place than Two Sevens Clash, which encompasses both the religious fervor of its day and the rich sounds of contemporary Jamaica. Avowed Rastafarians, Culture had formed in 1976, and ...

| | Shabba Ranks Greatest Hits CD (2001)
Sharing The Night music CDs
$7.59 Recorded between 1991 & 1995. Includes liner notes by Eliana Oumana.
With one foot planted firmly in Jamaica's tradition of classic toasting (his precursors include U-Roy and Yellowman), and the other in the burgeoning world of American hip hop, Shabba Ranks purveyed a hard-hitting ragga-rap style that came to typify the form known as dancehall. Delivered over deep, bass-thick production, ...

Sharing The Night album

| | U Roy Version Of Wisdom CD (1990) (Import) United Kingdom
Sharing The Night music CDs
$12.65 Compiled from the albums A VERSION GALORE (1978) and WITH WORDS OF WISDOM (1979).
This 20-song collection from reggae pioneer U-Roy is drawn from his albums VERSION GALORE (1973) and WITH WORDS OF WISDOM (1979). The compilation is rife with his trademark screams and shrieks, and features the tune "Tide Is High," which would become a megahit for Blondie.
Since the seminal 1968 track "Rightful Ruler" (produced by Lee Perry with backup vocals by Peter Tosh) introduced U-Roy to the world, reggae has never been the same. Certainly among the first artists to incorporate chatting or chanting into the reggae aesthetic, U-Roy and a handful of others inadvertently gave birth to what is now known as dancehall, arguably the most economically successful style of reggae.
VERSION OF WISDOM is a set of classic '70s material that features U-Roy at his finest--bellowing, screaming, and tossing seemingly random utterances into the musical pot. The set compiles a number of sides U-Roy cut for Duke Reid's Treasure Isle label. Highlights include "Ace From Outer ...
| | Luciano Tell It From The Heart CD (2003)
Sharing The Night songs
$10.49 Luciano has become a big enough name by this point, that when it's time for him to record a new album, he has little trouble attracting A-list guests and studio musicians. In this case, these include the legendary drummer Sly Dunbar, the equally respected saxophonist Dean Fraser, and guest vocalists Turbulence, Luton Fyah, Brian & Tony Gold, and others. And as usual, Luciano's songs are heartfelt and tuneful, and his delivery is the same. The inevitable intro track (can nothing be done to stop this practice?) is a waste of time, of course, but everything else ranges from good to excellent. "Ends of Never" is a charming, devotional Jah anthem; "Babylon Go Down" offers not only a stirring message of warning, but also what is probably the first-ever ...
| | Atomkraft Neat Anthology CDs (2004)
Sharing The Night album
$17.15 Like most other entries in Castle/Neat's frequently excellent line of New Wave of British Heavy Metal anthologies, Atomkraft's two-disc Total Metal is indeed "total," assembling virtually every recording that the Newcastle outfit ever committed to tape during their nearly decade-long career. Ironically, only half of those years account for all of these 29 songs, since Atomkraft didn't graduate from club performers to proper Neat signings until 1985, by which time they'd been active in one form or another since 1979, and had already financed four separate demos of their ...
