One of the pioneering and best-loved boy bands of the 1980s, the New Kids on the Block in their prime represented rosy-cheeked cuteness and innocent puppy love. In the long, album-less interim between 1994's FACE THE MUSIC and 2008's THE BLOCK, the Kids did a lot of growing up. The intervening 14 years have rubbed the teenaged glow off the group's sound and sensibility, and replaced it with a club-oriented vibe that is more concerned with sexing its listeners up than charming them with nostalgia.
From the opener "Click Click Click," which details a homemade photo shoot, it's clear that the emphasis is on adult themes, while "Grown Man" and "Big Girl Now" also sing the praises of adult fun. The album's sonic make-up is taken from contemporary R&B, radio-ready hip-hop, and digitized club music (the solo releases of fellow boy-band alum Justin Timberlake seems to be a touchstone), and a roster of guests, including Akon, Lady Gaga, and the Pussycat Dolls, help update THE BLOCK. The Kids don't bear much resemblance to their old selves, but longtime fans may still thrill to hear their favorite boy band back again.

 The Block is HOT
A big departure from "Hangin'Tough" and "Step by Step" but very reminiscent of the 1994 hidden gem "Face The Music".

The Block loses one star due to it's lack of ballads and two forgettable songs namely tracks #6 and #11,but still a great album for the most part.

 Great Comeback
I have been a "BLOCKHEAD" since day one I am estatic that they are back. Jordon, Jon, Joey, Donnie, and Danny definately have not lost anything their voices are still sharp. Great job. NKOTB is back!!!!!

This is a great CD and all of the songs are excellent with no dislikes and id better than there old stuff.But I still like there oler stuff,but this CD is there best album and didn't think that they would record another CD.WHAT A GREAT CD!!!

The beginnings of heavy metal can be pinpointed to a single song, Steppenwolf's biker classic "Born to Be Wild," featured on this classic self-titled 1968 debut. Originally from Canada, Steppenwolf exploded out of the West Coast, led by singer/guitarist John Kay. The band took the blues rock of Cream and cranking the volume a few notches higher to create its own style.
There's more to Steppenwolf's great debut than just the aforementioned "Wild" rock standard. There's a fun tribute to Chuck Berry in "Berry Rides Again," the sexually-charged "Sookie Sookie," and the anti-drug statement "The Pusher" (later covered by Blind Melon in the '90s).
