It's summer camp as usual at Camp Manabe where the kids torment each other for fun while the underpaid camp staff provides as little supervision as possible. Greedy camp owner Frank and junior partner Ronnie doe their best to keep everyone in line, but something sinister is about to put a slash in the roster. When campers and staff mysteriously begin disappearing and turning into gruesome corpses, paranoid Ronnie can't shake the memory of a series of grisly murders that took place at Camp Arawak, where he worked two decades earlier. Vincent Pastore, Jackie Tohn, Isaac Hayes, and Paul DeAngelo star. In this sequel to the 1983 cult slasher, the kids at a bucolic summer camp are having a great time in the woods--that is until camp counselors and youngsters start disappearing. To whom will the trail of blood lead? And will Ronnie be able to find out before Camp Manabe becomes a graveyard? Vincent Pastore and Isaac Hayes star in this gruesome horror flick that should appeal to genre fans. Return To Sleepaway Camp Movie Review Average Rating: (3.5 out of 5 stars) List All Reviews Lots of fun! Did I ever expect to see a movie like this amongst today's lame horror remakes, SAW sequels, and cliche horror films? Absolutely not! I had just about given up on the genre and then THIS comes along. It completey retained that campy, cheesy, atmospheric vibe of the original 1983 classic. What a breath of fresh air! It was great to see characters returning from the original film along with that off-kilter vibe that made the original stand out so well. The director obviously kept his loyal fanbase in mind and didn't seem to try and outdo anything to make it like all the same old crap that comes out today. I like the fact that the murders were still very creative and the story similar in many respects. This is an all around fun movie great for some laughs and some creepy visuals. It's no masterpiece and does have a few flaws but the fact that a movie like this has finally come out again gives me hope for the future of the horror genre. I even like the Return To Sleepaway Camp theme song on the dvd which you can hear in the movie or on the bonus features. Also a funny and entertaining featurette that details the making of this movie and a whole bunch of cool interviews. Submitted by Danny K (Providence, RI) Was This Review Helpful? Don't Bother Returning!! I loved the original "Sleepaway Camp" film from 1983 that this sequel is based upon. However, the original version was much less "acted" and felt more like you were really seeing kids have obnoxious fun at summer camp than in this substandard sequel. Some of the original actors return for this new romp, but they are not the problem (although Paul DeAngelo as "Ronnie" is his usual horrible-actor self). The problem here is with the writing. In the original, there was a lot of (seemingly) improvised dialogue amongst the various campers while they played baseball, and generally frolicked around. Here, the emphasis is strictly on stick-to-the-script PLOT, and there's not a whole lot of that to be found. The film, like its original, is a whodunit-type suspense flick, but, unlike the original, you just don't get the sense with this one that these are REAL kids at a REAL summer camp. Whether you've seen the original or not doesn't really matter here...it sucks either way!! I did give 2 stars simply because it bears the name of one of the best slasher film franchises of all time. However, it is almost unbearable to sit through. If you're new to this franchise and want to have your first adventure at "Sleepaway Camp", go for the 1983 original (and the 2 follow-up horror/comedy sequels are definitely good fun as well, especially #3)...As far as I go, I will return to Sleepaway Camp again, but when I do, it will be to the 1983 original version!!...(By the way, the Anchor Bay original version is cut, so if you want to see the REAL & COMPLETE 1st "Sleepaway Camp", go for the cheapie version...It's not exactly high-def quality, but it has no cuts unlike the Anchor Bay mess!!) $9.69 The grisly and debauched film PATHOLOGY is a juiced-up medical thriller that plays like FLATLINERS with a mean streak and a broken moral compass. Writers Mark Nelvedine and Brian Taylor have created a premise allowing for CSI-like forensics along with heaps of sex and violence, truly making the most of the film's R-rating. A high-end exploitation film with good performances, PATHOLOGY is strong enough for horror fans and should go down smoothly for non-squeamish viewers with a taste for the dark side.
Gifted med student Ted Grey (Milo Ventimiglia, HEROES) arrives at a major Washington, D.C., as an intern, where he is met with suspicion and resentment by the tightly knit group of fellow young pathologists-in-training. Soon, though, Ted is accepted into their circle---where they each take turns committing a murder so that the others may prove their mettle by figuring out the cause of death and celebrate with drug-fueled orgies among the dead bodies in the hospital. Things change for Ted, though, when his law student fiancée, Gwen (Alyssa ...
