Holiday Affair Movie Review Average Rating: (4.5 out of 5 stars) Good Christmas Movie This movie is not exactly like the poster. It shows the true giving spirit of Christmas with all of the excellent actors portraying good people. There is not mean person in the bunch. (Well, there is the thief in the park.) The character actor, Harry Morgan (tv's MASH), is very good in a short comedy segment. It is a nice, clean, and entertaining addition to add to your holiday viewing. Great Holiday Movie! "Holiday Affair" is one of my favorite Christmas movies. Released in 1949, in black and white, its likeable characters, sweet love story, and witty, good-natured dialogue make it a pleasure to watch - year after year. Janet Leigh, Wendell Corey, and Robert Mitchum are delightful, and Gordon Gebert, as 6 year-old Timmy, Janet Leigh's son, is adorable. An old-fashioned love story. Holiday Affair was Entertaining Our entire family enjoyed this movie. We didn't know what to expect with it being an older, black and white movie. We were pleasantly surprised at the quick pace and comedy. We would highly recommend it for a wholesome family night. Submitted by a reviewer (Franklin, TN) Was This Review Helpful? $15.65 This lush and beautifully photographed production of Louisa May Alcott's beloved novel contains more star power than any of its predecessors or successors in the 20th century. The setting is Concord, Massachusetts, during the Civil War, and Marmee Marach (Mary Astor) is attempting to raise her four teenage daughters in a time of deprivation and with her husband away fighting the war. June Allyson (THE GLENN MILLER STORY, THE STRATTON STORY) stars as Jo, the tomboy bookworm. Margaret O'Brien plays the selfless and tragic Beth. Elizabeth Taylor, in a perfect casting choice, plays the artistic Amy, and beautiful Janet Leigh (TOUCH OF EVIL, PSYCHO) takes on the role of responsible ...

$9.79 In their seventh and final collaboration, master impresario David O. Selznick (GONE WITH THE WIND, THE WIZARD OF OZ) wrote and produced while John Cromwell (THE PRISONER OF ZENDA, ABE LINCOLN IN ILLINOIS) directed this beloved World War II blockbuster about life on the home front. Claudette Colbert stars as Anne Hilton, an attractive housewife whose husband is fighting in Europe. SINCE YOU WENT AWAY examines the day-to-day lives of Anne and her fellow war brides as they find employment in ammunition factories, take in boarders to make ends meet, and try not to think about what might be happening to their husbands in combat. Hattie McDaniel contributes a strong performance as the family maid, Agnes Moorehead provides a stinging edge with her turn as a woman twisted by the privations of war, and Shirley Temple and Jennifer Jones shine as Anne's two daughters, Bridget and Jane, maturing and embarking on their first romantic escapades. Brilliantly scored, SINCE YOU WENT AWAY is a touching, sentimental, realistic portrait of American family life during ...

$14.45 This chilly adaptation of Oscar Wilde's novel stars Hurd Hatfield as Dorian Gray, a handsome young Victorian gentleman who remains eternally young while a portrait of him grows old and bears the ugly scars of his vile undertakings. The otherwise black-and-white horror film is notable for its lavish Technicolor finale--perhaps helping it score its Academy ...

$16.29 Has the search for a better way of life sent a man into a murderous rage? A seemingly respectable husband and father faces this question in the independent drama SIX FIGURES. Warner (J.R. Bourne) and Claire (Caroline Cave) are a couple in their mid-30s who've chosen careers that offer greater emotional rewards than financial benefits, and neither seems to regret that--Claire helps run an art gallery, while Warner is the director of a non-profit organization. Both make enough money to keep their heads above water, and they have two children they love very much. But when Warner and Claire decide to move into a new home, things begin to change--Claire falls in love with a house that's more than they can practically afford, but they decide to buy it anyway, sending them deep in debt. While Warner is up for a raise at work, he doesn't get it, and as Claire begins to chafe at their newly strained financial status, Warner turns to his family for help only to discover how disappointed they are with him. One day, Claire is brutally attacked with a hammer, sending her into the hospital with head trauma, and as police detectives begin investigating the crime, Warner discovers he's become the prime suspect. Claire's mother is convinced Warner is guilty, his parents don't know what to think, and Warner realizes its up to him to prove his innocence to those around ...
