| | Donnie Mcclurkin Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs CDs (2004)
Golden Bowls Of Compassion CD music
$15.95 The first disc of PSALMS, HYMNS & SPIRITUAL SONGS is straightforward, as McClurkin treads in traditional gospel fashion, singing standards and beautiful self-penned songs of praise (including the rousing "I Will Sing") to the crowd's relentless pleasure. The second disc unfolds a bit more unpredictably, as McClurkin breaks into impromptu medleys and leads a playful discussion about spreading the gospel to the world. In addition to multilingual songs, he gives an open-minded sermon ...
| | Heather Myles Highways And Honky Tonks CD (1998)
Golden Bowls Of Compassion music CDs
$13.69 HIGHWAYS & HONKY TONKS is like an open window letting in some fresh air and sunshine on the overly formulaic '90s country music scene. Myles pays homage to the traditions of Buck Owens, Merle Haggard (Myles' duet partner on "No One is Gonna Love You Better") and Loretta Lynn, without ever sounding anachronistic or self-conscious. Like Dwight Yoakam, she manages to make the classic country approach seem contemporary without sacrificing it on the altar of overproduction. There's a hint of Buddy Hollyish rock & roll here and there a la Monte Warden (whose fans could do worse than to check out this disc), but ...
| | Vaughn Nark Panorama: Trumpet Prism CD (2004)
Golden Bowls Of Compassion songs
$13.49 Vaughn Nark's high-note theatrics on trumpet follow the path of Roy Eldridge, Dizzy Gillespie, Cat Anderson, and Jon Faddis, though he tries to keep it all in perspective, for the most part. This former Airmen of Note member is making a name for himself now. The contemporary setting of Nat Adderley's "Work Song" may not appeal to hard bop or soul-jazz fans, but his funky treatment manages to work. He mixes it up with alto saxophonist Pete Barrenbregge and trombonist Dave Steinmeyer (both of whom are former Airmen of Note directors) in a swinging treatment of "Lullaby of Broadway." Nark's warm vocals in "I've Got a Crush on You" prove to be an added bonus, backed by lush strings and the rhythm section. His subtle approach to Dizzy Gillespie's "Birks Works" is tantalizing, showcasing tenor saxophonist Peter Fraize's smoking solo. Nark's stratospheric chops return with his pulsating solo introduction to "All Blues," though the funky arrangement is a bit of a disappointment. The pairing of his trumpet and guitarist Dave Marsh (with just a smidgen of percussion) in the ballad "Cavatina" is pure magic. But the high-note gimmick finally wears a bit thin in "Over the Rainbow." One last surprise is an infrequently performed gem by Kenny Barron, "Trinidad Goodbye," which Gillespie first recorded in the mid-'60s when Barron was his pianist. As on many Summit CDs, the musicians may not exactly be household names, but you won't know it from their results. ~ ...

Golden Bowls Of Compassion songs
$13.15 Last night was a long time coming. I’d been bombarded by friends and complete strangers about the greatness that is Blueheels. Alas, our paths never crossed in person until last night at the Majestic Theatre (Madison. Wi) for the band’s release party for Lessons In Sunday Driving. The crowd was filled up with die hard loyalists to the group, ready to dance, shake and sing along. My familiarity with the group begins and ends with Lessons In Sunday Driving material, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying every single note and drop of excitement - a precursor to big things for this group.Last year Bon Iver was Wisconsin’s biggest musical success to be catapulted out of state and onto critical acclaim and national attention. This year belongs ...

| | Barry Eaton Change Of Heart CD (2008)
Golden Bowls Of Compassion CD music
$17.69 In 2006, by accident, I discovered that there was computer software available which allowed people to record music without having to pay for an expensive recording studio. Once I got over the surprise, it dawned on me that a whole new world of song writing and recording may be open to me. During 2006 I taught myself how to use this technology to a certain degree. By January, 2007, I thought that maybe I could write, perform, sing, record and produce a complete song on my own. Three weeks later I nervously played it to three people and waited for a polite response. To my utter ...
