As a student, I played in instrumental band during my four years. But after graduation, I founded my own business and left the band. And in 2006, I suddenly felt a desire to make music again. As a result, I've made more then eighty songs in one year.Right now, I'm working on a ninth album named "Sexy Boy". It will be issued in august, 2008. | | Jay Scott Homegrown CD (2008)
Terra Incognita album
$13.15 Paradiddle records and CCI Music are pleased to announce the release of Homegrown, the new album by Jay Scott. Several years of performing with bands including Square 1 and Simple Citizen took Jay Scott from his home town of Patchogue, Long Island to New York City, Southern California and back, and the time on the road helped him refine his unique vocal and acoustic guitar style and provided the inspiration for a number of original songs. Scott moved back to Patchogue in 2003, fell in love with Kim, and they got married and purchased their first home in 2006. The following year Jay and Kim welcomed their son Raymond into the world in March. Like many young couples trying to make ends meet, Kim and Jay both work full time. Somehow Jay has found time to write songs, rehearse, record and perform as his audience continues to grow. Scott started performing solo in 2004, urged by Simple Citizen drummer Christie DeFeo to resist the lucrative cover bandâ scene and continue to write and perform his own songs. The two recorded a four song EP in DeFeoâs home studio, giving the homemade CDs out at live shows to appreciative fans. The fluid nature of the band prompted DeFeo to coin the name âGrand Case Scenarioâ for Scottâs backing band, as opposed to the worst case scenario of having a gig booked but not having a full band to play the show. Friends and fellow musicians continue to perform with Scott to this day, as does DeFeo, who performs with numerous other musicians but often reminds Scott âIâm with you till the wheels fall off!â. At a 2005 open mic night at BrickHouse Brewery in Patchogue, Christopher Capobianco was in the back of the bar when he heard Jay for the first time and was immediately drawn to the stage to hear what he called âan amazing voice and great songsâ. He came back several weeks later to see Jay with his band, and was hooked. As coordinator of Live in the Lobby, the local original music series at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA), Capobianco and his fellow volunteers booked Scott and his band for a January 2007 show there, the acoustic âConcert for the Lobbyâ in July and the September Patchogue Jam 2 on the PTPA main stage featuring five acts who had played the Lobby. In October, the Jay Scott sound gelled when Grand Case Scenario became DeFeo, Aaron Palmadessa on lead and lap steel guitars, and Square 1 bassist Jason Tebaldi. Palmadessaâs sweet slide and dynamic lead guitar and Tebaldiâs powerhouse bass playing were the perfect compliment to DeFeo and Scott and long time fans knew that Jay Scott had finally found his band.Earlier that year, Scott began to nudge Capobianco to become his manager, saying âyouâre a music fan and a businessman, and thatâs what I needâ. He eventually gave in and starting working with Scott, forming CCI Music as a division of his company, Christopher Collaborative Inc. He soon introduced Scott to Bill Herman, president of Long Island based Paradiddle ...
| | Jack Reilly Masks CD (1998)
Terra Incognita CD music
$16.49 The one certainty about any album by pianist Jack Reilly is that it will take the listener into the upper realm of pianistic virtuosity -- -- technical and interpretive -- -- with ear-tingling adventure. This compilation covers live performances from a variety of venues over a period from 1968 to 1995, but mostly from the 1980s and 1990s. The play list runs the gamut from modern Reilly originals to well-known standards. The program also moves back and forth between classical compositions and popular and avant-garde music, some played in tandem with each other. It's on those medleys combining two musical forms where Reilly shows his command of all melodic and harmonic possibilities. Kicking off the session is a medley which marries "Fantasie," a classical piece by Reilly, with "I Got Rhythm," a classic in its own right given that its chord changes formed the basis for many jazz compositions. Reilly's segue from the first part of the medley to the other is seamless, giving the impression that this sort of musical venture is a routine matter. Even without the added bonus of a Reilly piece at the front end of the amalgamation, his adept interpretation of the Gershwin masterpiece stands on its own. Reilly is also joined by leading practitioners of modern creative jazz music on several tracks, all coming together like the inner works of a finely made Swiss timepiece. Listen as Harvie Swartz and Ronnie Bedford join Reilly to liltingly disassemble and reassemble "Willow Weep for Me" -- a truly different arrangement of this venerable staple of jazz literature. Reilly manifests his flexible composing pen with a blues/gospel-based "Benedictus" sung by Sheila Jordan. Masks is one more fine effort by a pianist who constantly astounds with each succeeding session. ~ Dave Nathan
