| | Yakima 2 Back To The 50'S CD Yakima 2 Discography of CDs
The Yakima 2 is made up of a couple of musicians who have been around for a long time. Mike Walter has been playing music for 51 years and Dan Bardes has been playing Guitar for 61 years. Both of these guys have been around the block. Mike Walter played in Rock bands for 25 years and then started his own recording studio (Mike Recording) in 1985 and also established his own Publishing Company (Rainbow Express Publishing). Mike started writing songs in 1964 after experiencing 13 months in the Vietnam War. Mike has written over 300 songs, and recorded 11 albums. But it wasnāt until he met Dan Bardes, that it all started coming together. The āTrees Of Fireā project has been a new horizon for both of these talented musicians. Dan Bardes started playing guitar at the age 11. Three years of formal lessons starting from 1946-1949. He developed a guitar style from two great guitar players of the time, Les Paul & Chet Atkins. From 1956-1965 he played six & seven nights a week at the most popular night clubs and dance taverns in the Northwest area. He played week-ends for 30 years from 1966-1996. From 1996-2007 he performed as a studio musician. As a independent guitarist he played with many of the top bands in the area. Dan was inspired to write for the first time in his life (the 5 songs on āTrees Of Fireā). Mike puts together the drums, bass, keyboards and vocals, and Dan lays down the guitar tracks. Dan Bardes has a unique guitar style that totally influences the vocal style of Mike Walter. Itās a pretty amazing mix. \"Back To The 50\'s\" CD is an inspiration from writer, Mike Walter, who writes about experiences from the Fifties era.The song from the title of the CD \"Back To The 50\'s\" is an influence from the original Fifties Rock N Roll era. It was called the Fabulous Fifties. You can hear the unique guitar style of Scottie Moore, who backed Elvis, and Duane Eddy, and Bill Black, and then throw in Les Paul on the Instrumental tracks. Great musicianship combined with great vocals is what makes \"Back To The 50\'s\" a truly great Recording Yakima 2 Back To The 50'S Songs | 1. | Love One Another |

Back To The 50'S songs
$10.25 Dedicating one song to her late father who passed away in January 2002, Ruthie Foster's vocals mix gospel with a healthy helping of Texas blues in the vein of Bonnie Raitt or occasionally Melissa Etheridge. The mid-tempo opener, "Runaway Soul," is a solid beginning with harmonica and Hammond organ. Her softer side is also shown in some delightful harmonies. "Woke Up This Mornin'" has a Sunday church feeling, slowly building into a funky Southern track with a choir-like harmony. "Smalltown Blues" takes more of an acoustic slant, featuring mainly Foster and acoustic guitar dominating the tune. Foster rarely takes a wrong turn on the album, knowing her strengths and playing to them. ...
| | 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best Of The Fairport Convention CD (2002)
Back To The 50'S album
$7.45 This is part of A&M Records "The Millenium Collection" series.
This is hardly "the best of Fairport Convention," focusing as it does on a pretty slim slice of their career. All of these ten songs were done within about a year and a half of each other between 1968 and 1970. As it happens, this is the peak of their career, and the phase that saw them progress into interesting variations on folk-rock with each album, from a more balanced base to a more avowedly British traditional one. But it's a small sample nevertheless. ...
