The OffRamps have been together for over 6 years. Raised on a steady diet of power-pop, punk, classic rock and Americana, the 3 members met after sharing stages as members of such established Detroit/Ann Arbor bands as The Holy Cows, SlugBug, Culture Bandits, Clashback, 3 Speed and The Hoolapoppers, to name a few. Since then, they’ve released a well-received CD - Hate It When You’re Right (Deluxe - 2006) and played over 100 shows across the Upper-Midwest. They’ve appeared on major festival stages, at local corner bars and in most of the premiere venues in Michigan and Ohio. They’ve performed on nationally syndicated radio shows and university stations across the region. The OffRamps bring a blue collar work ethic to the stage, consistently delivering high-energy sets of well crafted original songs steeped in the tradition of the great power-pop, rock and punk bands of the last 3 decades, with a refreshing modern twist that is distinctly original. With an emphasis on hooks, energy and creative arrangements, audiences can’t help but pay attention. They’re well rehearsed and professional, but loose, fun and engaging at the same time. Now...introducing their second record - Split The Difference (Deluxe) - 12 more tracks showcasing their unique sound. Following the release, they’ll be supporting the record on stages everywhere. Split The Difference
$13.14 Dutch pomp-metal band Epica, fronted by classically trained mezzo-soprano Simone Simons, released their second album for Nuclear Blast only a year after their label debut, the more unique The Classical Conspiracy. That two-disc live set found them performing a mix of classical works and their own songs with backing by a full orchestra and choir. This album offers more of their bombastic goth metal songs, with Simons' vocals floating atop an ever flowing stream of complicated drumming, epic riffs, and shredtastic solos. The use of orchestral instruments to add John Williams-like climaxes is intermittently successful, but the music is just as frequently stripped down to an unaccompanied piano or to just the rock band, and that works, too. ...
| | Cruisin' 1970 CD (1995)
Split The Difference
$9.69 An instantly recognizable bargain-bin staple since the late '70s, thanks to their colorful comic book covers tracing the romantic life of an Everycouple named Peg and Eddie, the Cruisin' series of discs is built on a brilliant concept: Each disc is devoted to a single year, with hit songs, local commercials, station jingles, and news headlines, all presided over by a noted DJ from the ...

| | This Is Beaumont CD (2000) (Import) Import; United Kingdom
Split The Difference
$25.69 Labeling Beaumont's debut album, This Is Beaumont, as indie pop, as it is often categorized, is not really placing it in the proper context. While twee elements remain -- the group sometimes sounds like Belle and Sebastian or Trembling Blue Stars -- the music they create is more akin to '60s jazz. Guitars don't jangle; instead, their strings are softly plucked, creating an airy, soothing atmosphere. The songs are slow and mellow, but they're not boring -- at least not after a handful of spins. However, listeners familiar with This Is Beaumont's influences, such as Sergio Mendez, Dionne Warwick, Serge Gainsbourg, and Burt Bacharach, will easily be seduced ...
| | Nowhere Man & A Whiksey Girl Just Like The Others CD (2008)
Split The Difference
$12.15 When Derrick and Amy Ross began performing as Nowhere Man and a Whiskey Girl in early 2003, their intentions were simple enough: Select a name that hinted at their roots in the American West and established their identity as a determinedly two-person operation. The name also cast them as a couple of wanderers, too intoxicated with the possibilities of someplace else to settle down. In that sense, the name would prove prophetic as it charted the course of the next five years of their lives.Unable to locate a satisfactory permanent home, they accumulated more than their fair share of temporary addresses. When it wasn’t the pony-trail towns of Bisbee, Tucson, and Willcox in the Arizona Territory, it was cooler locales like Corvallis and Nashville. Upon the release of their debut album, they hit the road for weeks at a time, bypassing the metropolitan centers in favor of the oft-neglected smaller towns in between.Wherever they went, they brought ...
