Michael Patrick King directs this film based on the TV series starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristen Davis, and Cynthia Nixon. This DVD includes additional film footage, conversation with costume designer Patricia Fields, and interviews with Parker, King, and Fergie. The silver-screen version of SEX AND THE CITY is sure to inspire lust, though it may not be after its sexy male cast. Instead, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) and her friends wear enviable fashions from the industry's biggest names such as Zac Posen, Louis Vuitton, and, of course, Manolo Blahnik, and their gorgeous clothes--and accessories--threaten to steal the show. But for fans of the series' wit, drama, and sex, there's plenty to like in this romantic comedy filled with familiar characters. Though four years have passed since the events of the series, not much has changed as the film begins: Carrie and Mr. Big (Chris Noth) are happy as they search for an apartment, Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is blissful with her husband (Evan Handler) and adopted daughter, Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is still with actor Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is trying to balance life as a mother, wife, and lawyer as she lives in Brooklyn with Steve (David Eigenberg). But Carrie and Big's apartment hunt leads them down the road to marriage, and the destination may not be quite everything Carrie hoped for.
Though the film runs nearly two and a half hours, it flies by the way a marathon of episodes would for the devoted. Even minor characters from the show--Vogue editor Enid Frick (Candice Bergen), beloved Carrie pal Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson), and hyper wedding planner Anthony Marentino (Mario Canton)--make fan-pleasing appearances. SEX AND THE CITY is full of glitz, glamour, and giggles, but be sure to have a tissue nearby. These characters have become like friends to fans, and it's tough not to tear up when things don't go exactly as they'd hoped.
Sex And The City - The Movie Reviews: "SEX AND THE CITY has always been about the bond among women. At its best, the movie shows why that bond sticks."-- Peter Travers, Rolling Stone "THE MOVIE replicates everything that's great about the TV show, in particular its breathless flitting between relationship realities and romantic wish-fulfillment."-- William Thomas, Empire "It gives you everything you ever loved about the series, and blows it out into super-size cinematic proportions. The drama is more dramatic, the stakes are higher, and the relationships more intense."-- Emily Rems, Premiere 3 stars out of 4 -- "It's an unabashed guilty pleasure that goes down as smoothly as a chilled cosmo."-- Claudia Puig, USA Today "For a film that delights in indulging in frivolity at every possible turn, it examines subjects that most movies don't dare graze for their terrifying seriousness. And when it does, the movie handles them with surprising grace, wit and maturity."-- Carina Chocano, Los Angeles Times Sex And The City - The Movie | List Price | $19.96 (You save $7.01) | | Studio | Warner Home Video | | Orig Year | 2008 | | DVD Encoding | Region 1 | | All Time Sales Rank | 18045 | | CD Universe Part number | 7730851 | | Catalog number | 1000043249 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | Sep 23, 2008 | | Rating | R (MPAA) | | Rating Reason | for strong sexual content, graphic nudity and language | | Also Known As | Sex and the City | | Running Time | 145 Minutes | | Additional Info | Full Screen | | Movie Details | Color; Full Screen; Full Frame |

I WATCHED, I CRIED I LOVED IT! A WONDERFUL VISIT WITH OLD FRIENDS. I WATCHED, I LAUGHED, I CRIED...THANK YOU SARAH JESSICA PARKER FOR KEEPING THE STORY GOING Submitted by JUDI (BRIDGEWATER, NJ, USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 3 of 3 found this helpful. This review is for a different format.
Awesome!! I Loved This Movie So Much! This is one of the few shows that I've watched since the beginning and considered good or ground-breaking enough to actually buy the episodes on DVD. (CSI and The L-Word being others) I didn't buy Season Six in protest of the way they split it into two DVD sets, thereby doubling the price for the Season, but I digress. The movie picks up the threads four years after the series left off.
Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) has reconciled with Big (Chris Noth) and the two are apartment hunting in Manhattan.
Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is still married to Steve (David Eigenberg) but having problems balancing the responsibilities of home, family, work and social life.
Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is happily married to Harry (Evan Handler) and the couple have adopted a daughter named Lily.
Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is living with Smith (Jason Lewis) in LA, commuting to New York for important social events.
So now you're up to date, here we go with the Short Attention Span Summary (SASS):
1. Carrie and Big make an important decision based on legal rights over property
2. Miranda makes an important decision based on Steve's actions
3. Charlotte has big news, but is afraid that something may happen to ruin everything
4. Samantha is restless, and not getting any younger
5. In vogue wedding ends up in Vogue magazine, but the honeymoon isn't exactly what the bride had in mind.
6. Carrie hires an assistant, Louise from St. Louis (Jennifer Hudson), an efficient young woman with great taste in brand names and shoes, who still believes in love.
7. The tides of life wax and wane and wax again in thoroughly entertaining fashion
8. All join in wishing Samantha another 50 years!!
This movie captures the spirit of the series, the only thing missing being not enough Stanford Blatch (Willie Garson) and Anthony Marantino (Mario Cantone)
The soundtrack is also excellent, with songs by Fergie, Jennifer Hudson, Jem, Nina Simone, India-Arie and others.
Highly recommended for all fans of the show, and the fashion forward.

HAGS AND THE CITY. A ghastly horseface, a desiccated streetwalker, a pretty-young-thing and a butch wax philosophic on the most excruciatingly fatuous subjects imaginable. But don't you dare say the empress wears no clothes, because if you do you will be accused of "punishing female sexuality" by pseudo culture-critics and tenured women "professors." Don't expect the slightest shred of wit or originality: for all its pretensions to cutting-edge status, there is not a single idea or joke that you haven't heard in dozens of other shows and movies over the years. Stale and hackneyed, "Sex and the City" is the TV equivalent of "Thelma and Louise": an adolescent romp for women. Which is fine by me, I suppose. $10.19 In this sequel to BRUCE ALMIGHTY, newscaster Evan Baxter (Steve Carrell, THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN) has traded in the news desk for a post in Washington as a congressman. Though his campaign was based on the idea of changing the world, Evan drives a gas-guzzling SUV and spends more time trimming his nose hair than with his three sons. When he has a strange encounter with God (Oscar winner Morgan Freeman, reprising his role from the first film), God tells him to build an ark, just as Noah did thousands of years ago. Though Evan is skeptical, he finally accepts the task after being hounded by dozens of animals that follow him, two by two. By obeying God, Evan risks his family, career, and sanity--but will a flood actually come and prove him right?

$11.29 British director Ridley Scott may not seem a logical choice for this truly American crime drama, but the filmmaker does an excellent job. The film is based on a true story and set in 1968 Harlem, where Frank Lucas (Denzel Washington) is a driver for Bumpy Johnson, one of the top figures in the city's criminal world. When Bumpy dies, Lucas swoops in, taking over his predecessor's empire and expanding it over the next few years with his sale of a particularly potent brand of heroin. Meanwhile, New Jersey cop Richie Roberts (Russell Crowe) begins to investigate the New York drug world and discovers that there's a new power in town.
