Standard Screen; Soundtrack English The television comedy M*A*S*H debuted in 1972. The line between comedy and drama has never been so delicately trod upon as in the series about the 4077th military medical hospital. Season nine includes the episodes "Cementing Relationships," "Death Takes a Holiday," "No Laughing Matter," and "Bless You, Hawkeye." M*A*S*H - Season 9 film
$14.45 The film represents Henry Fonda's return to the screen after an absence of seven years, part of which was spent playing the eponymous officer in the immensely successful stage version of Thomas Heggen's novel. As cargo officer and second in command on a supply ship during World War II, the easygoing Lt. Doug Roberts is excluded from a much desired combat role while playing whipping boy to dyspeptic tyrant Captain Morion (James Cagney). Ensign Frank Pulver (Jack Lemmon), a brash yet cowardly wheeler-dealer, entertains Roberts with his elaborate pranks while the fatherly Doc (William Powell in his last screen appearance) offers advice. The young crew tries every available means of killing boredom, including eyeballing the nurses on a nearby island through ...

M*A*S*H - Season 9 review
$23.85 The television comedy M*A*S*H, based on Robert Altman's hit film of the same title (based, in turn, on Richard Hooker's novel), debuted in 1972. Set during the Korean War, the show revolved around the nurses and doctors at a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital located precariously close to the war's front lines. The original protagonists of the show were Dr. Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce (Alan Alda) and Dr. "Trapper" John McIntyre (Wayne Rogers), two raffish and rakish surgeons with a healthy disdain for authority and the war in general. This attitude led to numerous stand-offs with hard-line military types Dr. Frank Burns and Senior Nurse Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan. (Eventually, the McIntyre character was replaced by the cleancut family man B.J. Hunnicutt.)

M*A*S*H - Season 9 video
$23.85 One of the most popular and innovative television series in history, M*A*S*H aired for a record eleven years, and its finale episode attracted a larger number of viewers than any other single episode before or since. Based on Robert Altman's feature film of the same name, and set during the Korean War, the show was initially conceived as a critique on the Vietnam War, but eventually adopted a more character-driven, rather than situation- or issue-driven, plot. With a large ensemble cast, a few main players were in evidence, including "Hawkeye" Pierce (Alan Alda) and his buddy John McIntyre, two top-notch doctors more interested in booze and women than operating. Dr. Frank Burns (Larry Linville) and the Senior Nurse, Lieutenant Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan (Loretta Swit) were the two staunch military enforcers who were forever trying to get the two "playboys" court martialed. Ltd. Col. Henry Blake (McLean Stevenson) was the ostensible camp commander, ...

M*A*S*H - Season 9 film
$23.85 Robert Altman's film was brought to the small screen in 1972, and forever changed the face of television. Successfully combining both drama and comedy into a half-hour format, the show took place in the volatile setting of a military hospital just outside Seoul during the Korean War. With an extensive ensemble cast and finely-drawn characters, the show functioned as political satire and sitcom, while achieving a level of very humane ...

M*A*S*H - Season 9 review
$14.15 Janet Jackson has had a wild ride in the quest toward diva-dom. Starting out with the dubious distinction of being Michael Jackson's kid sister; she startled the American music scene with a precocious start with CONTROL. Her happy, snappy, pop songs were apparently the right equation for an audience hungering for the ultimate in catchy songs. With each album, she advanced several notches in her journey to rule the R&B scene, and eventually surpassed the gloved one's influence. This collection of music videos from four Virgin albums, JANET, THE VELVET ROPE, ALL FOR YOU, and DAMITA JO, represents Ms. Jackson as a mature women in her prime. The smiley girl from next door is long gone, replaced by a remarkably ...
