A man (Kirk Douglas) discovers a cavern rumored to foretell the end of the world, as those around him begin to die. Kirk Douglas stars in this hallucinogenic, dread-leaden 1977 biblical horror film as Robert Caine, an executive who scoffs at the warnings against building a nuclear power plant in a network of sacred caverns in the Middle East believed to portend the end of days. But when people involved with the power plant undertaking begin to die in gruesome ways, Caine's encounter with an unnerving, unparalleled terror is just beginning.

Rain Of Fire film
$17.89 Fabrizio De Angelis, the producer of Lucio Fulci's amazing ZOMBIE, tried to cash in on that film's success by financing this zombie/cannibal hybrid film that not only features ZOMBIE's lead actor, Ian McCulloch, but also some of its footage. The result is an often hilarious gore fest that is far less serious than Fulci's film, but whose sheer lunacy makes up for any of its shortcomings. The story follows Dr. Peter Chandler (McCulloch) and a reporter named Lori (Delli Colli) who discover a rash of cannibalism in New York. Soon the two have traced the cannibalistic activity to a remote island where they encounter a tribe of cannibals and a mad scientist who appears to be experimenting with reanimating dead corpses. The result of this work is four bloodthirsty zombies who roam the island and, along with the cannibals, wreak havoc on Lori and Dr. Peter's expedition.

Rain Of Fire review
$11.09 While chasing a criminal named Rolex (Melvin Wong), Agent 999 (Tsui Siu-keung) stumbles upon an even greater evil--a primitive, impoverished village that has resorted to cannibalism. An expert at kung fu, Agent 999 must decide whether he will join his old foe in fighting off the hordes of crazed, masked peasants. WE ARE GOING TO EAT YOU is director Tsui Hark's second film, following his debut, BUTTERFLY MURDERS, which also explores the horror genre. Without the budget for complicated special effects, WE ARE GOING TO EAT YOU relies on energetic editing (a Hark trademark) and gross-out scenes to move the story along. The gore has a campiness that will appeal to the most bloodthirsty fans of slasher films--in one scene a man is sawed in two, while in another a beating heart is ripped from a man's chest. Comedic elements are added in the characters of a bumbling thief and a cross-dressing male with a voracious sexual appetite. Hark would later return to the horror genre by producing A CHINESE GHOST STORY and directing GREEN SNAKE.
