| | Undertones Teenage Kicks Vinyl LP Record Undertones Discography of CDs
2008 seven inch vinyl repressing of this classic Punk EP, released to coincide with the 30th Anniversary of it's original issue. On June 16th, 1978, The Undertones, Derry, Ireland's one and only Punk band, recorded the Teenage Kicks E.P. for Terri Hooley's Good Vibrations label. 'Teenage Kicks' is virtually synonymous with John Peel, the legendary BBC DJ: the man is rumored to have blubbered like a baby upon first hearing of the song and, of course, has publicly stated that it was his all-time favorite song. It was Peel who first played 'Teenage Kicks' on September 12th, 1978 and subsequently captured a nations heart. Features four tracks: 'Teenage Kicks', 'Smarter Than U', 'True Confessions' and 'Emergency Cases'. Salvo. Teenage Kicks Review

Teenage Kicks
$8.99 Slayer: Tom Araya (vocals, bass); Jeff Hanneman, Kerry King (guitar); Dave Lombardo (drums). Recorded at Hit City West, Hollywood Sound, California and Record Plant, Los Angeles, California. After staking out new territory with the underrated South of Heaven, Slayer brought back some of the pounding speed of Reign in Blood for their third major-label album, Seasons in the Abyss. Essentially, Seasons fuses its two predecessors, periodically kicking up the mid-tempo grooves of South of Heaven with manic bursts of aggression. "War Ensemble" and the title track each represented opposite sides of the coin, and they both earned Slayer their heaviest MTV airplay to date. In fact, Seasons in the Abyss is probably their most accessible album, displaying the full range of their abilities all in one place, with sharp, clean production. Since the band is refining rather than progressing or experimenting, Seasons doesn't have quite the freshness of its predecessors, but aside from that drawback, it's strong almost all the way from top to bottom (with perhaps one or two exceptions). Lyrically, the band rarely turns to demonic visions of the afterlife anymore, preferring instead to find tangible horror in real life -- war, murder, human weakness. There's even full-fledged social criticism, which should convince any doubters that Slayer aren't trying to promote the subjects they sing about. Like Metallica's Master of Puppets or Megadeth's Peace Sells...but Who's Buying, Seasons in the Abyss paints Reagan-era America as a cesspool of corruption and cruelty, and the music is as devilishly effective as ever. ~ Steve Huey Slayer built a rabid following with faster-than-light thrash metal, eerie, disturbing lyrics, and bassist/singer Tom Araya's screamed vocals. 1986's REIGN IN BLOOD, ...

| | Madonna Rain/Fever EP CD (1993) (Import) Australia
Teenage Kicks
$13.15 Madonna's EP for RAIN/FEVER features three different versions of the song "Rain," as well as three for the song "Fever," and additional tracks including "Waiting (remix)," "Up Down Suite," "Bad Girl (extended Mix)." "Rain" was the fourth and final U.S. single from Erotica. It never made the Top Ten, but had a relatively long chart life, was a more "friendly" song than the other singles from that album, and became an adult contemporary hit, paving the way for the "softer" Madonna to emerge in the mid-'90s. The single contained four tracks, those being the radio remix and album version of "Rain," a remix of the Erotica album track "Waiting," and a non-album cut, "Up Down Suite." The single version of "Rain" is not drastically different from the longer album version, just a little "beefed up." However, when "Rain" was issued on her ballads collection, Something to Remember, the album version was used instead of the single version. Therefore the single version can only be found on the actual CD single. The remix of "Waiting" is a straight-up hip-hop mix featuring a rap courtesy of then House of Pain frontman Everlast. "Up Down Suite" is not much of a song, just 12 minutes of house beats featuring samples of her vocals. Still, for the die-hard fan and collector, it's a plus to have these mixes of the songs, especially since the "Rain" remix was not issued on her ballads collection. ~ Jose Promis

| | Cure Faith Vinyl LP (1981) (Import) Limited Edition
Teenage Kicks
$31.89 Recorded in 1981 this classic album took the band further down the road of despair, initiated with Seventeen Seconds, with an album full of mournful atmospheric tracks, including their hit single, "Primary". Special limited edition on grey vinyl.
The Cure: Robert Smith (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Simon Gallup (bass); Laurence Tolhurst (drums). Engineers: Mike Hedges, Graham Carmichael, David Kemp. Certainly not the "darkest" the Cure would eventually get, Faith is, as represented by the cover art, one of the most "gray" records out there. Melancholy and despondent (the feel of funerals and old churches just oozes from this record) without the anger that would over take Pornography, Faith comes off as not just a collection of songs, but as a full piece. "The Holy Hour," "All Cats Are Grey," and the spectacular "Faith" are slow atmospheric pieces that take the softer elements from Seventeen Seconds, and -- when sidled up next to faster tracks like the single "Primary" and "Doubt" -- paint an overall picture of the ups and downs contained within a greater depressive period. But it's not all gloomy keyboards and minimalist percussion, Faith is also a milestone for Robert Smith lyrically, branching out into questions of faith and spirituality he never quite touched on so well ever again. A depressing record, certainly, but also one of the most underrated and beautiful albums the Cure put together. They would not touch on this sort of lush sadness so well again until 1989's Disintegration. ~ Chris True If you ever observed (or were) a pale depressed-looking teenager dressed entirely in black, sitting in the corner scribbling frantically into a marble bound notebook, then you already understand the Cure. In the 1980s, the Cure provided the soundtrack for an entire generation of misfit toys, and if SEVENTEEN SECONDS was a wake-up call for the dispossessed, FAITH is the daily affirmation. Scaled back down to a three-piece with the loss of keyboardist Hartley, the Cure is a lean, mean fighting machine, ready to rumble. "Rumble" is the best way to describe the propulsive bass playing of Simon Gallup, whose rolling bass anchors both mid-tempo numbers like "The Drowning Man" and faster fare such as "Primary." While no new ground is broken ("Doubt" is basically a rewrite of "Play for Today"), FAITH is stunning in its simplicity and haunting beauty, as evidenced by "All Cats Are Grey" and "The ...
