| | Labeling Deloris I Want Everything CD Labeling Deloris Discography of CDs
Labeling Deloris is a hybrid of rock and pop that is rarely heard in conventional pop music today. In fact, the name “Labeling Deloris” is a metaphor for the musical sound created versus the way it is perceived; that is to say that while it seems to have a
distinct, alt-rock edge, it also produces a popular, long-lasting quality. Based in Nashville, TN, the band is poised to take over the Southeast music scene. Their passionate performances produce a fierce live show overflowing with electricity. “What is impressive about this band is not only their music or their accomplishments, but their approach toward the hidden things that make a band successful…they havededicated their lives in the pursuit of their dreams.” (Jeff Reid, The Beat Magazine)Released in July 2008, “I Want Everything,” the full length follow up to “For the Sake of Deloris,” is peaking the interest of audiences throughout the country. The band is touring regionally to support “I Want Everything” and a more expansive tour is being planned. The album is being distributed through iTunes, CD Baby, and MyTracks, and is also receiving airplay throughout North Carolina. With influences ranging from No Doubt to John Mayer to Guns N’ Roses, the group may seem to be an unlikely combination. But fusing their individual music tastes, Labeling Deloris strives to create a sound appealing to all. After forming the band while students at Catawba College, Jennifer Reiff (vocal/guitar/songwriter), Jason Rigney (guitar/songwriter), Brad Rigney (bass), and Andrew Boudouris (drums) headed to Nashville, TN directly after graduation. It was there, in 2006, that they recorded “For the Sake of Deloris” which spawned a self-booked, four month tour of the country. This tour took Labeling Deloris back to their east coast roots in Wilmington where they have received regional attention. They have been chosen to play in front of audiences of thousands which included mainstay festivals like Wing Fling, Chili Cookoff, and the Azalea Festival. Labeling Deloris has also performed with Taylor Hicks and Lifehouse at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC as well as nationally, showcasing at Atlantis Music Festival and CMJ Music Marathon.Although “I Want Everything” was released recently, the band continues to write, record, and release new material on a weekly basis. While playing for a consistently growing fan base and selling thousands of CD’s independently, Labeling Deloris hopes to break through the indie level to mainstream success. $12.65 Singer, Songwriter and Nashville Recording Artist Amanda Nagurney was born in Buffalo, New York and rose with the sounds of country music surrounding her. She recently finished her Debut Album "Gettin Out Of This Town" which she recorded in Nashville, TN at Soundshop Studios. She began listening to country music at a very young age and realized by the age of seven that singing and performing is what she loved to do. She began taking vocal lessons and started singing all genres of music and took any chance she could to perform. But while on a trip to Nashville, Amanda toured the Country Music Hall of Fame and recorded at the famous Ryman Auditorium. It was here as she learned the history of country music and found this is where her heart lies. She has sung the National Anthem for the Buffalo Bills, Sabres, World's Toughest Rodeo and the Buffalo Bison's. Amanda has worked with many local and regional bands and artists. She has also been nominated as Best Female Vocalist by the 2008 Buffalo Music Awards. | | Martha Velez Escape From Babylon CD (1976)
I Want Everything
$9.69 So right on so many levels, yet in the end, so very, very, wrong, Escape From Babylon is one of the oddest albums to come out of the reggae era. The album was Bob Marley's first outside production assignment, and he was ably assisted by Lee Perry and Craig Leon, while the recording sessions were split between Harry J's studio in Kingston and Plaza Sound in New York. The backing band is the Wailers' own, the Barrett Brothers (Earl "Chinna" Smith et al.), with Zap Pow horns and the I-Threes providing harmonies. Of the album's eight tracks, three are Marley's own, a fourth is a Marley/Tosh classic, and a fifth is co-written by the Wailers and Velez. All in all, this should be one hell of a reggae album, with fabulous versions of such masterpieces as "Stand Alone" (retitled "There You Are"), "Bend Down Low," "Hurting Inside" (aka "Happiness"), and "Get up, Stand Up." The music is wonderful, with laid-back, softly percolating rhythms; superb musicianship; and a warm, almost gentle production. And then Velez starts to sing, and it all falls to bits. Not only was Velez not Jamaican, she wasn't even a reggae singer; in fact she was a white American rocker. And as was typical of the time, her voice was unexceptional -- pleasantly generic ...
