At Folsom Prison album for sale Product Description

At Folsom Prison album for sale by Johnny Cash was released Oct 14, 2008 on the Legacy label. Want to hear part of the reason why Johnny Cash is an icon, a singer respected and influential in country, folk, and rock & roll? THIS is it! In 1968--one of the most tumultuous years in American history since the Depression years--Cash recorded an album live in front of a (literally) captive (but wildly appreciative) audience, in Folsom Prison. With two guitars, bass, drums, and a small vocal group (including Cash's wife June Carter Cash and the Statler Brothers), Cash sings his hits and lesser-known songs ("Send a Picture of Mother") and some haunting country standards ("Dark as a Dungeon"), as well as songs about REAL outlaws ("Cocaine Blues") to a rapt audience that hangs on every word. At Folsom Prison CD music is a 3-disc set with 51 songs.   ...See Full Description

Worthwhile
I am very satisfied with the CD ordered. My husband had an old album, but with times changing CD's are much more compatible with the stereo systems.

At Folsom Prison CD music Those who find the pairing of '70s rock god Robert Plant with contemporary bluegrass queen Alison Krauss unlikely have probably not been paying attention to Plant's latter-day work, which is full of intimate, acoustic-flavored balladry. While the organic-sounding, low-key Plant/Krauss collaboration, RAISING SAND, is a far cry from Led Zeppelin's stadium rock, it offers up some hauntingly moody textures that should appeal to "Battle of Evermore" admirers. Consisting mostly of sagely chosen cover tunes, the album finds Plant and Krauss bringing their warm-but-eerie harmonies to everything from Townes Van Zandt's nihilistic folk poetry ("Nothin'") to the crumbled beauty of latter-day Tom Waits ("Trampled Rose"). Determined not to rest on their laurels or cater to expectations, the 59-year-old icon and his junior partner craft a subtle and intriguing sound built on their shared love of folk forms and gift for interpretation, bringing to light esoteric gems by late Byrds visionary Gene Clark and the Everly Brothers along the way as well.

At Folsom Prison album for sale Today the most recognition the Animals get is "House of the Rising Sun" being played on oldies radio, but in the mid-1960s they were a powerful part of the British Invasion, often reckoned on a par with the Beatles, the Stones, and the Who. Like those bands, the Animals had strong roots in blues and R&B, but, in their original incarnation, they stayed closer to those roots than their peers did. This definitive compilation, masterfully assembled by the ABKCO think tank of Teri Landi and Jody Klein, shows the tough, uncompromising use to which the Animals put their American influences. John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom" is recast as a raw garage rocker glazed with Alan Price's sinister organ riffs, and the aforementioned "House of the Rising Sun" is transformed from a traditional folk lament to an urgent, ominous piece of churning tumult. Of course, the group skillfully expanded those roots (with the help of some great writers), and turned out some classic working-class-rebel anthems ("We Gotta Get Out of This Place," "It's My Life"). By '67, the original lineup disbanded, and Eric Burdon led a new batch of Animals into a psychedelic West Coast sound ("San Franciscan Nights," "Monterey"). The Animals may not be given pride of place in the rock history books, but RETROSPECTIVE shows that they fully deserve it. Audio Remixers: Eddie Kramer; Gary Kellgren; Vic Briggs. At Folsom Prison buy CD music If all you know about Herman's Hermits is that they had a couple of semi-novelty hits during the British Invasion with "Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter" and "I'm Henry the VIII, I Am," RETROSPECTIVE aims to set you straight. Part of ABKCO producers Teri Landi and Jody Klein's grand plan to redress the balance of historical perspective on 1960s pop, this collection is a perfect overview of the band initially regarded as a safer version of the Beatles. While amiable, sunny pop is the dominant strain here, there are many tracks that further flesh out the group's profile. A version of Sam Cooke's "(What a) Wonderful World" points up the Hermits' soul leanings. The downright nasty "A Must to Avoid" and the witty, rocking "Museum" would sound right at home on a contemporaneous Beatles album. The Hermits' version of the Kinks' "Dandy" displays hipper tastes than many give Peter Noone and company credit for, and RETROSPECTIVE itself calls out for a 21st-century reappraisal of the band's catalog. Liner Note Author: Jim Bessman. At Folsom Prison songs Released shortly after the death of guitar legend Duane Allman, EAT A PEACH occupies an important transitional spot in the Allman Brothers' discography. The leading three tracks, recorded after Duane's death, point the way toward the band's future. While still rooted in the group's blues-jam roots, these songs show the Allmans angling closer to the melodic country style that was guitarist Dicky Betts's forte. Betts acquits himself well on the opening "Ain't Wastin' Time No More," deftly handling a slide-guitar part that cannot help but evoke the group's departed member. "Melissa" plays squarely to Betts's strengths, while "Les Brers in A Minor" recalls the extended jams of the AT THE FILLMORE EAST album. The next three tracks on EAT A PEACH are taken from the Fillmore shows. Each selection represents the Duane-era Allmans at their best, especially the blistering "Trouble No More." The sound quality on these tracks, however, does not compare well to the analogous tracks on THE FILLMORE CONCERTS, an expanded reissue of the classic live album. The final three tracks, studio sessions featuring Duane, hint at what PEACH might have been had Duane lived. Additional Tracks; Live Recording; Deluxe Edition Audio Mixer: Suha Gur. Audio Remixer: Ovie Sparks. Liner Note Author: Scott Schinder. Arrangers: Phil Walden; Bill Graham. The Allman Brothers Band: Berry Oakley (bass guitar); Jai Johanny Johanson (drums); Dickey Betts, Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Butch Trucks. Personnel: Dickey Betts, Duane Allman (vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar, slide guitar); Gregg Allman (vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, electric piano, organ); Butch Trucks (vibraphone, drums, tambourine, timpani, percussion, gong).

At Folsom Prison album for sale Officially released for the first time in 2008 on the Rhino label, this two-disc, 24-track Doors concert album presents the revered rock band on the cusp of massive success. Recorded at a small Los Angeles club in March 1967, LIVE AT THE MATRIX captures frontman Jim Morrison and company mere weeks before "Light My Fire" topped the U.S. charts and catapulted the group to stardom. Fittingly, the performance features many songs from the Doors' self-titled debut (see the aforementioned track and a spare version of "The End"), but it also includes tunes that would make their appearances on later albums such as "People Are Strange" (STRANGE DAYS) and "Crawling King Snake" (L.A. WOMAN), and rare covers, most notably a slinky take on Allen Toussaint's "Get Out of My Life, Woman." Although the ensemble is clearly in a formative stage on MATRIX, with Morrison in particular not completely settled into his brooding shaman/poet persona, the concert still makes for a fascinating aural document of a legendary band in the making. The Doors: Ray Manzarek (vocals, keyboards); Jim Morrison (vocals); Robby Krieger (guitars); John Densmore (drums).

At Folsom Prison CD music On February 24, 1969, 2 days before he turned 37, the legendary Cash led his traveling troupe behind the foreboding walls of the California State Penitentiary at San Quentin. This 2 CD/DVD set includes 31 audio selections, 13 of which were previously unissued, plus a DVD called Johnny Cash In San Quentin, a 1969 documentary made by England's Granada TV for British TV. Included are concert excerpts plus interviews with prisoners and guards. The Tennessee Three backs up Cash, with additional performances by Carl Perkins, the Statler Brothers, and the Carter Family featuring Mother Maybelle Carter and June Carter Cash. One of country music's unequivocal stars, Johnny Cash retained respect for the travails of the audience elevating him to that position. Recorded live at one of America's most notorious prisons, this album displays an empathy bereft of condescension and captures a performer combining charisma with natural ease. The material is balanced between established favorites and new material including "Wanted Man" (an unrecorded Bob Dylan song), and the lighthearted hit "A Boy Named Sue." It was not the first time Cash had recorded in a penal institution, but this appearance, at a time when American values were vociferously questioned, suggested the artist's rebelliousness had not dimmed. Personnel: Johnny Cash (vocals, guitar); The Carter Family (vocals, guitar); Carl Perkins (vocals, electric guitar); June Carter Cash, The Statler Brothers (vocals); Bob Wootton (electric guitar); Marshall Grant (bass instrument); W.S. Holland (drums).
