(2 Customer Reviews)
The electrifying and energetic country artists return with their second collection of rarities and live performances, mixing traditional country songs with hip-hop, rock, and the occasional Native American yell. The set includes a DVD of exclusive performances and a CD.
A follow-up to Big & Rich's 2004 release, BIG & RICH'S SUPER GALACTIC FAN PACK, BIG & RICH'S SUPER GALACTIC FAN PACK II is a two-disc multi-format set featuring a total of 18 songs. The first disc is a CD containing three new recordings: "Woodstock," "Everybody's Rockin,'" and "Find A Heart." The second disc is a DVD of a concert at Fort Loramie, Ohio, in 2007. Presented in high definition with 5.1 surround sound, the DVD is a technically resplendent artifact as well as a well-made performance film that delivers the high energy and boundless enthusiasm of a Big & Rich concert. Guest performers include Cowboy Troy on the encore "Rollin' (The Ballad of Big and Rich)" and James Otto, who performs his own hit "Just Got Started Lovin' You" with the duo. Other highlights include all of the duo's best known hits, such as "Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy)" and "Between Raising Hell and Amazing Grace."

Big & Rich's Super Galactic Fan Pak 2
$7.59 A best-of that comprises cuts from two studio efforts and a live album? For a lesser artist, the consumer would be well within his rights to cry foul. In Leonard Cohen's case, however, virtually every track he's ever recorded merits anthologizing. MORE BEST OF contains the strongest songs from I'M YOUR MAN and THE FUTURE, two of Cohen's latter-day masterpieces that combine his dark, poetic lyrics with an ironically glossy sonic framework. To add some historical perspective, live versions of early cuts like "Suzanne" are included. The depth (both spiritual and physical) of Cohen's readings here stands in sharp contrast to the original recordings. To rope in the diehard fans, there are two new cuts included, the self-deprecating shuffle "Never Any Good" and a short spoken-word piece, "The Great Event."
Producers include: Leonard Cohen, Michael Robidoux, Gean-Michel ...

| | Ray Wylie Hubbard Delerium Tremolos CD (2005)
Big & Rich's Super Galactic Fan Pak 2
$13.05 It seems strange that folks like Ray Wylie Hubbard once lived such wild lives but have been able to make solid comebacks later in life. Strange, because Hubbard, on Delirium Tremolos, sounds as good as he ever has. Better yet, the album has a nice, mellow country sound, and Hubbard has discarded, for the time being, his penchant for preachy, comic songs. It doesn't hurt that the album's been produced by Gurf Morlix, nor that he's joined by great harmony singers like Patty Griffin and Eliza Gilkyson. Hubbard's choice of songs are solid too, combining deep but real lyrics ("And the rock and roll gypsies are ridin' tonight/ On the carnival strips they'll stay") with good melodies ...

Big & Rich's Super Galactic Fan Pak 2
$11.29 Before they plugged their mandolin and banjo into guitar amps, before they hired a drummer and basically served as godfathers of the progressive bluegrass movement that took off the in '60s, Bobby and Sonny Osborne led a straight-ahead bluegrass band that had more in common with Flatt & Scruggs than with stylistic descendants like the New Grass Revival (or even the Country Gentlemen). The second disc in this four-volume series documents the group's early years, when their repertoire leaned heavily towards Louvin Brothers songs and crowd-pleasing patriotic novelty tunes. On this program, the latter are represented by "Alabama" and the rather maudlin "Wrap My Body in Old Glory When I Go," neither of which is a bad song, but both of ...
