The Pevensie children return to Narnia, which is now ruled by a cruel tyrant, in this $141 million-grossing film. Bonuses: commentary; three-disc also has interview, featurettes, bloopers, deleted scenes, DisneyFile. Based on the second novel in C.S. Lewis's beloved CHRONICLES OF NARNIA series, PRINCE CASPIAN finds the four Pevensie children--Peter (William Moseley), Susan (Anna Popplewell), Edmund (Skandar Keynes), and Lucy (Georgie Henley)--once again whisked away from WWII-era England into the realm of Narnia, where the siblings once ruled as royalty. However, the Pevensies soon discover that 1,300 years have passed since they left, and the world is now controlled by the Telmarines, humans who long ago banished the magical creatures of Narnia to the wilderness. When the heir to the Telmarine throne, Caspian (Ben Barnes), survives an assassination attempt plotted by his scheming uncle, Miraz (Sergio Castellitto), the noble youth stumbles across Narnia's exiled enchanted population, and decides to lead them in an uprising, aided by Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy.
Considerably darker and more action-packed than THE LION, THE WITCH & THE WARDROBE, this 2008 sequel, once again directed by Andrew Adamson, is driven by the struggle between the Telmarines and the banished Narnians, resulting in many fierce battle sequences. While the newcomer Barnes and the established quartet of Moseley, Popplewell, Keynes, and Henley are all in fine form, CASPIAN is largely enhanced by its supporting cast, which includes indie mainstay Peter Dinklage as the dour dwarf Trumpkin and revered British comedian Eddie Izzard as the voice of the swashbuckling mouse Reepicheep. Also briefly reprising their roles from the previous film are Liam Neeson, as the voice of Aslan, and Tilda Swinton, as the White Witch, actors who bring their familiar personas to this engaging and entertaining second chapter in the NARNIA saga. Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian Reviews: "[A] fierce and somber battle epic....As the soldiers pick up their broadswords and begin to slash and plunge, PRINCE CASPIAN seizes, and holds, your attention..."-- Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly 3 stars out of 4 -- "The production design is lavish, the cinematography lovely and the world of woodland creatures beautifully crafted."-- Claudia Puig, USA Today "Using a cast and crew of close to 2,000 and some of the best special effects houses in the world...PRINCE CASPIAN is very much the kind of adventure epic that believes you can never have too much galloping."-- Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times "PRINCE CASPIAN is quite a bit darker than THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, both in look and mood. It is also in some ways more satisfying."-- A. O. Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian Video Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian Movie Review Average Rating: (3.8 out of 5 stars) the return to narnia!!!!!!!! I really liked this movie and would totally say you should see it. There are some more fighting scenes in his one than in the other and in some parts peter acts like a snob, but I like it anyway. I thought the part when some of the narnians got caught in the castle was sooooooooooooo sad. I loved repacheep (I think that's how you spell that) and how he was very brave. I liked everyone else (except king miraz and his side) Submitted by Mikaela (Eugene Or) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 1 found this helpful.

A Little Disappointing This film was not as good as the first Narnia movie, probably because it was so unfaithful to the book. Peter's character was inexplicably childish (unlike the book), and in the end Aslan tells him he's done nothing wrong. Huh? Also, Aslan's romp in the book, where he spreads joy everywhere he goes, is completely left out. I guess there are still limits to visual creativity. All that said, the battle at the end is truly amazing. Wonderful effects. Reepicheep is almost as grand a mouse as he should be. Submitted by rdrift1879 (Acton, CA) Was This Review Helpful? excited and then dissapointed... I was so excited on Dec. 1 when I knew this motion picture was about to hit the shelves on Dec. 2. I'm not much of theatre person and like to watch movies at home. Anyway, I go to my local movie store first thing in the morning to get this movie, before they all get checked out, filled with anticipation and excitement about watching it that night. My excitement slowly faded about 45 minutes into this movie, finally realizing that this movie is filled with empty blanks. The lion, better known as 'Aslan' is only present in the movie for about 20 minutes tops. The characters are just lame. King Peter's and Prince Caspian's swordsmanship is just down right hilarious-no skills what so ever. Also, this movie is just all over the place; it never seems to take off. There are some good things about this movie: the special effects are everything that you would expect and there are a couple of cool scenes in this movie that keep it afloat, but that's about it. If your like me and looking for a continuation of the first 'Narnia' in 'Prince Caspian', your setting yourself up for dissapointment. Do yourselves a favor and ride this one out another year by waiting for this one to hit the $1 section of the movie store, and then rent it. It's worth a dollar I guess. With that all being said, I'm looking forward the third Narnia when ever it comes out - if they even make another one. Submitted by Eddie (Bedford, VA) Was This Review Helpful? All Hail Prince Caspian! This second installment of the Narnian series in film form is better than the first -- though both hold to the high standards of Disney Walt designed himself.
While there can be a small number of intense moments for very young children, overall the content within the battle scenes was tastefully done.
A skeletal structure of the book on which it was based was followed. A prince is denied his rightful throne and must fight to reclaim it for himself...as well as the suffering and oppressed inhabitants of Narnia.
It still holds rather true to the themes and the heart of C.S. Lewis. This is a timely story which would stand for all ages...particularly in an era which sometimes fails to understand there is such a thing as just war. That freedom isn't free. Faith can indeed sustain in trying times. One should act. Yet faith and action must go hand in hand.
A++ and highly recommended.

Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian review
$22.15 To say that Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT is the best comic book adaptation does the film a bit of a disservice. It may be a Batman film, but this isn't a kid-friendly action movie full of the bams and pows of the original series. This is a pitch-black thriller with enough drama and tragedy to please even William Shakespeare, but it will certainly keep both comics fans and uninitiated audiences equally happy. THE DARK KNIGHT starts in the wake of BATMAN BEGINS: with the appearance of Batman (Christian Bale), Gotham City's criminal underworld is unnerved. ...

Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian DVD
$23.45 Even for Pixar, this might be a first: an animated film that contains not only a fully realized world as photorealistic as it is teeming with wonder, but also the Gargantuan themes and visuals of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, the kind of stripped-down sad-clown pathos reserved for classic Buster Keaton comedies, and one of the most moving love stories in a long time. Director Andrew Stanton kicked up the visual acuity of an already-stellar Pixar Studios in 2003 with his reflective, refractive, color-shimmery realization of FINDING NEMO's oceanic world, which genuinely felt as though it spanned the entire earth. Now, with WALL-E, Stanton replaces an estranged journeyer of an apprehensively ...
