Films Of Budd Boetticher Movie Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars)  Superb set, superb director, superb actors
At last the Boetticher/"Ranown" westerns, or at least these five of them, are out in pristinely beautiful DVD issues, in this superb set...a set that every Western devotee should get, but also every film buff---for these are not just run-of-the-mill Westerns; these are some of the best films of their genre ever made, stylistically and cinematographically. The dialogue is always crisp and lean, and sometimes ironic or humorous (thanks largely to Burt Kennedy); the acting is extremely good...in addition to the underappreciated Randy Scott, we see Richard Boone, James Coburn, Claude Akins, Lee Van Cleef, Pernell Roberts, and others who would make their respective marks... Lots of good commentary and extra features. Budd Boetticher was a great director, and this release confirms that. Highly recommended.
