Four Praise was originally started in 1981 by John R. Owens, Chuck Buller, Bruce Watkins, and Bob Taylor. Linda Owens accompanied the group on the piano. Four Praise could be heard singing in churches, campmeetings, and convocations throughout California. John, Chuck and Bruce remained part of the group from its inception with various different vocalists joining to sing lead. Walter Sackett replaced Bob Taylor and sang with the group for several years before moving out of state.
