Allow me to introduce to you the newest member of the Wellingtons catalogue Heading North For The Winter! We\'re really proud of this one, bursting with nothing short of the best ten songs we could come up with over the past 18 months or so. It was a lot of blood sweat and tears plus some major sleep deprivation in the studio but here it is! We thought we\'d stick with the ten song formula (U. K and Japan releases however have bonus tracks) that we\'ve done with the first two albums. I\'m sure you\'ll agree when you hear it that it\'s our bet effort yet! Everyone who has heard already heard it agrees, so it may just be all down hill from here, but let\'s worry about that later!Allow me to get serious for a second... The producer, Matt Maddock\'s done a great job with the production of this brand new album and the artwork\'s cute as hell right? Thanks to Vicki from Meomi design. In these tough times for record labels we\'re also SUPER excited to inform you all that we\'ve been blessed enough to have struck up record deals in FOUR new countries! We\'ll have a September release on U. K label Lo-Jinx (home of the most excellent powerpop band, Farrah) & Spain\'s Rock Indiana (home of so many great pop and rock records). Then the fabulous U. S label Zip records will follow in October and we\'re also very excited that we\'ll be releasing Heading North For the Winter later this year or early next in Malaysia! Unfortunately the Australian release is a work in progress so you\'ll have to be patient... We\'ll let you know when we confirm that! The album is again out on Thistime Record In Japan (July 9th 2008) and I want to send a big thanks to Fuji, Shizue and Koyo at Thistime records for helping us make the best possible record we could this year and for working hard with us to make this band a global thing!OK, please check out the great videos for Freak Out here:http:// youtube /watch?v=AfdU_MGSxPgAlso, another promo video for Song For Kim is coming soon, so stay tuned! Thank you to Kate and David Vance for their hard work on them!We\'re just about to pack our bags to come and play for as many of you as our bank accounts and jobs will allow during the months of September and October! We really can\'t wait to see you all! Please see our mypace for Japan, U. K, Spain and U. S tour dates in this September and October. http:// myspace /thewellingtonsmusicWe really hope you like \"Heading North for the Winter\", please buy it, or legally download it on iTunes and other good online stores, and tell your friends about it, so that they can enjoy it, and then we can keep slowly fulfilling our fantasies! Thanks so much for all your support and we hope to see you soon at our shows!Zac AnthonyThe Wellingtons Heading North For The Winter Music Wellingtons Heading North For The Winter Songs | 1. | Song For Kim | $0.99 | |

Heading North For The Winter album
$9.55 Susan Boyle's grand unveiling on Britain's Got Talent was with a song from Les Miserables - the very song that lends this album its title -- and if she could become an international sensation based on a show tune standard, there's no reason for her to change her approach on her debut, since that's the sound that made her a star. ...

| | Kalu James Dim The Lights CD (2008)
Heading North For The Winter CD music
$11.39 Native Nigerian Kalu James may not look the part of an accomplished folk rock singer songwriter, but the release of his second CD, "Dim the Lights," proves otherwise. Recorded in his new home in Austin, Texas, "Dim the Lights" showcases Kalu's affecting lyrics with his unique style of vocal delivery. The buzz from Kalu's sophomore recording resulted in a sell-out show at the recent CD release party at Ruta Maya International Headquarters as well as gigs at well-known Austin venues Stubb's & Momo's. Born in Nigeria and raised in Republic of Benin, Kalu fluently speaks three languages - French, English and Igbo (native language ). Although he had sung in the choir since age 9, it wasn't until he moved far from home to New York State in 2001 to study computer technology that he discovered his gift for songwriting. The son of a businessman and an educator, during his childhood his parents would play American artists such as Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye from his dad's record collection. American & Reggae music was also popular on African radio with tunes from artists such as Boys II Men, R. Kelly and Bob Marley as well as Nigerian favorites Fela Kuti & Osita Osadebe. But it was after Kalu moved to Rochester, New York that he discovered some of the artists that would have the greatest influence on him, Jeff Buckley and Tracy Chapman. Kalu had always been a writer and a poet. Now he was inspired to put his words into music. He bought his first guitar and began attending open mics. Music began taking over his life. Soon he was not only a regular, but also running one of the most popular open mics in Rochester, New York. After six years in Rochester, he was a well-known and popular entertainer. But when the opportunity came to move to Austin, Texas, he didn't hesitate. Kalu remembers, "I had developed a name in Rochester and you could almost say I was well known in my niche. Friends would ask why are you moving to Austin where there are so many other musicians? But I wanted to go tough it out with the big boys. I couldn't just wait for people to discover me. I had to take the music to the people."Even so, Kalu worried if Austin would accept him. His insecurities about the move are reflected in the song he wrote as he made his way south, "Austin Bound." I'm Austin bound, in debt but oh so highThis city is filled with hopes and dreamsPlease oh please, car don't dieWe got more hundred miles to cruiseI'm Austin bound, got my eyes set on the prizeKalu found Austin to be a community open to people. In just a few short months, Kalu established himself at the longest running open mics in Austin, Ruta Maya International Headquarters, and the man one Ruta Maya regular dubbed "the smiling man from New York" created a working relationship with the Ruta Maya open mic house band, the MCO band. Kalu says, "Austin reminds me of my home in Nigeria. People are not walking around like islands. People smile at you. There is something about Austin that is ...
