$13.15 'It's all about the message.' Those are the five words you'll definitely hear when you listen to Destined2B. The message is one of hope, love, joy found in God all delivered in a package of earth-shattering beats, thought provoking lyrics, and creative music. This dynamic duo comprised of Lisa and Nicole, deliver their message in a way a listener from any background, religion, or social class can completely understand. Don't be mistaken though, although D2B has a mainstream sound their beliefs or their message is never comprised, making the reason behind the art more important than art itself. Destined2B ...

| | Kevin Atwood One Man Standing CD (2008)
La Flor De Cuyo music CDs
$6.69 One Man Standing is extended play, progressive rock, instrumental CD. Although it was recorded in 2003 and 2004, the songs have only recently been mastered and released in August, 2008. Originally these songs were intended as a 'proof-of-concept' for a new progressive rock direction I was working on at the time. As it turned out the experiment was successful and I shelved the music as a reference for future compositional work. The idea behind this music project was to see if I could write and play progressive rock music and have it come out sounding like a band and not just one guy trying to sound like a band. The challenge was to use music sequencer software with live performance digital recordings and not have the outcome sound robotic or artificial. Over the years after working with several bands and drummers I've learned to program MIDI drum tracks to sound pretty human. The way I do this is with a technique that emulates not just what a real drummer can do but what a real drummer can't do. On this CD I used a lot of vintage keyboard sounds like the Mellotron, Moog synthesizers and Hammond B3 to recreate the thick pad sounds of the progressive rock vintage sound. And even though I never purposely tried to copy the any of the classic progressive rock bands of the past, there are moments in these songs that convey very similar music energies. The SongsMy Cosmic Guitar is a tune that kind of grew from itself like many other tunes I've written in the past. In the beginning it was a little seed and then once it germinated and I saw its little sprout coming through, I knew what kind of a song it was going to grow into. So I gave it a little water and stood back and strummed my guitar and ruffled a few keys on one of my synthesizers and before I knew it out grew this cosmic piece of music.Lie to Myself is abstractedly inspired by medieval chamber music. I can't really compare it to anything else other than to say that this song indicative of most music I write which sounds like a combination of all the music that has inspired me over the years. I guess I would describe this song as Mike Oldfield, Chris Squire, Alan White and some generic progressive rock keyboard player got together and formed a band that plays rock music influenced by medieval chamber music. One thing I can say about my music, nothing stays the same for very long. I have a real low threshold of boredom and it only takes a short time for me move the tune forward. Lazy Afternoon was literally written during a lazy, rainy typical Nova Scotia Sunday afternoon. Once again there is a bit of a medieval influence with contrasting sections that float in and out featuring the occasional electronic frog and big stomping cosmic bits. On one level I guess I would describe this song as a juxtaposing sandwich were there are layers of esthetic bread smothered with cosmic jam in between the slices. So take a big bite, chew slowly and enjoy. One Man Standing is representative of the persistence required to stick with a thirty year plus music project. Staying focused on a dream no matter what happens around you, to you or what people say about you. I know a few 'die-hards' like myself that have stuck with their personal dreams no matter what. The pay off is the personal fulfillment that only obtaining your goals ...
