Although they aren't members of the Elephant 6 collective, the Spinto Band has a fair bit in common with Elephant 6 outfits like Of Montreal, Apples in Stereo, and Olivia Tremor Control. Quirky, innovative, and unabashedly devoted to the joy of pop hooks, the Spinto Band continue their bold, avant-pop journey on 2008's MOONWINK. The twisting melody of opener "Later On" and the breezy indie pop of "Summer Grof" are highlights, but the chiming guitars, orchestral layering, and sharp tunesmithery throughout make MOONWINK a winner.
