The Dan Cray Trio is unique in that it relies on a collaborative effort rather than the singular vision that is more typically found in a piano trio. This in turn has allowed the group to rise above the pick-up band mentality that has come to dominate the jazz landscape. Because each musician is equally invested in the development of the music, the Trio is able to match the intensity and clarity of purpose that define the best jazz artists. Their innovative arrangements and group dynamic have led Cadence Magazine to rate them \"as interesting, if not more, than the celebrated Bad Plus.\" The Trio’s music has been featured in the hit television show “Gossip Girl,” the film “The Merry Gentleman” and the radio program Eight Forty-Eight with host Steve Edwards on Chicago\'s NPR affiliate WBEZ. Holly Tucker CD Press Release -- Lorena, Texas -- August 27, 2007Fourteen year old Holly Tucker, of Lorena, Texas, has just completed the recording of her first full-length country music CD, at the local studio of artist/producer, singer/ songwriter, master teacher, Dick Gimble, son of western swing fiddle great, Johnny Gimble. The CD is set for “soft” release August 28th, in Waco. Art design and music duplication , in Austin, has just been completed. That may be a matter of necessity—singer and main songwriter Bryan Fox recently relocated, at least temporarily, to Knoxville—but with their new album MKultra, it has also come as a welcome choice. \"Our last two albums were done in a spastic manner,\" Fox says. \"Both took no more than three days to record and both were done in homes that we lived in. This was the first time we had equipment outside of our own grasp and a studio to fiddle with it. New keys, new pedals and sounds.... I know this record represents that.\"Recorded by Umbrella Tree\'s Zachary Gresham and released on that band\'s label, Cephalopod, MKultra finds the Seabees fleshing out their sound while revisiting some of the lyrical themes familiar to fans of the band\'s other work: geographic dislocation, loss, deception, friendship. Opening the album, the band compresses a life\'s worth of influences into a little over four minutes and arranges them like photos on a timeline. Opening with an a cappella chant that recalls the spirituals of a bygone and unrecorded era—and hovers achingly close to the melody of \"Amazing Grace\"—\"Tigers\" leans into a banjo-led shuffle, then strides slowly but strongly toward an electrifying finish filled with churning crash cymbals and overdriven guitars.
