| | Natasha Bedingfield Pocketful Of Sunshine CD - Import Natasha Bedingfield Discography of CDs
In 2008 popster Natasha Bedingfield dropped a finely constructed, hook-filled effort in POCKETFUL OF SUNSHINE. Rootsy and groove-oriented, but with plenty of contemporary R&B studio polish (a combo especially evident on the reggae-inflected standout "Love Like This," featuring Sean Kingston), POCKETFUL manages to be both laid-back and glamorous at once.
Bedingfield is equally adept at breezy, catchy dance-pop (the title track) as she is at heart-tugging love ballads ("Soulmate"). Sharp productions, head-nodding beats, singalong choruses, and Bedingfield's smooth, appealing vocals make POCKETFUL go down easy, and will keep fans coming back to these tracks again and again.
This deluxe DVD/CD set includes her 13-track album along with 5 #1 hit dance remixes plus live concert performances and videos! The CD features Sean Kingston on one track.

Pocketful Of Sunshine
$15.98 Unlike its 2002 predecessor Back in the U.S., Good Evening New York City doesn't cherrypick highlights from a tour, it commemorates a specific event: the inauguration of Citi Field -- the replacement for the now-defunct Shea Stadium, where the Beatles played a legendary show in 1965 -- in the summer of 2009. The circumstances may be different -- different enough to lead to a Billy Joel cameo on "I Saw Her Standing There," the piano man returning a favor from Paul, who played at Billy's Shea-closing shows in 2008 -- and McCartney might have two strong albums of new material to draw upon, but as an album, Good Evening New York City plays a lot like Back in the U.S. with a whopping 17 of its 35 tracks shared between the two titles. More importantly, the vibe is the same, with Macca delivering an expertly balanced and sequenced set with all the skill of the old pro that he is. Apart from the inclusion of "Mrs. Vanderbilt" and "I'm Down," there are no surprises, either in song selection or performance, but no surprises doesn't mean no satisfaction, and this is plenty entertaining

| | Darden Smith Sunflower CD (2002)
Pocketful Of Sunshine
$9.69 Chris Maresh (bass); J.J. Johnson (drums, percussion); Sammy Merendino (drums, programming).
People whose first exposure to Darden Smith is a listen to Sunflower will be surprised that he began as a country artist. The tone throughout this album is of a modern singer/songwriter -- with a jazz-influenced backing group -- who is very strong at both singing and writing. His lyrics here are lovely, and he has a warm, emotional voice that puts them across with power and delicacy. In particular, "Satellite" is aimed straight at the adult contemporary hit market, with intelligent, wistful lyrics about a lover who will never commit to a permanent relationship. Sunflower has several songs in this vein -- not about delirious first love, but about the long-term consequences of decisions and the twists in relationships. Not surprisingly, such topics tend toward philosophical and poetic sentiments, and Smith delivers them with effortless grace. On "New Gospel," the sentiments are overtly and interestingly religious, with lyrics comparing epiphany to new love, offering the possibility of a whole new set of rules to suit new circumstances. ...
| | Vassar Clements Livin' With The Blues CD (2004)
Pocketful Of Sunshine
$14.45 While the extraordinary fiddler Vassar Clements is known for his countless recordings in the world of bluegrass and country music, he's also a convincing blues interpreter. He is matched with a wide-ranging group of musicians and repertoire by producer David Grisman in this delightful Acoustic Disc CD. Clements' playing takes on an almost conversational tone throughout a good part of these sessions, while he is obviously having a rollicking good time with his fellow players, no matter the setting. The legendary bluesman Robert Johnson's "Beatrice Got a Phonograph" is an amazing duet by Clements with Roy Rogers (who sings while playing an amplified Martin guitar), though it is the leader's personal sound that leaves a lasting impression. His fiddle almost seems to smirk throughout Tampa Red's "Dead Cats on the Line," which is also highlighted by Bob Brozman's guitar and Bobby Cochran's lead vocals, with Norton Buffalo providing harmony. It's hard to beat the interplay between Clements, Buffalo (on harmonica), and guitarist Bob Brozman in the trio rendition of "Keep Your Lamp Trimmed and Burning." Clements and Brozman evidently concocted "Fiddlin' and Faddlin'" in the studio, with Brozman also playing percussion on his guitar behind the leader's blistering introductory solo. Elvin Bishop adds a touch of humor with his amusing originals, including the down-home blues "Dirty Drawers" and the funky "That's My Thing," adding Norton Buffalo's soulful harmonica. Maria Muldaur's gritty vocals shine in Doc Watson's ...
