Timeless … provoking … transcending. These are words that can describe the rare and talented voice of Steph Carse. Singer, composer and producer, Steph is a versatile artist whose passion for his work is evident in each song he delivers. His latest album project “REACH OUT” is a culmination of Steph’s life’s work, his love for songs that inspire others, as well as his strong personal values about belief in oneself and reaching out for things beyond one’s imagination. “I wanted to make a CD that would be uplifting and positive,” he says. “I recorded songs that offer a message of hope and clarity … each song was selected with that in mind. I hope this CD will somehow reach inside the heart and help people in someway make a change”. Among a variety of self-written original songs, the album also includes classics from Rogers and Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Sondheim and Puccini that he recreates with his own flair and original music composition. “We arranged these timeless tracks with a fresh and a new life,” he says. The title song “Reach Out” is a song that Steph co-wrote and will be an official theme Song for The American Red Cross. “It is important to believe in your dreams... to believe in your God given abilities and that you are here to make a difference in any way you can. This is what I wanted to say on this album”. Once hearing the lyrics, listeners know that this is what he has achieved. Steph wrote and co-wrote five original songs on the album and even plays an original composition on piano in the song “Journey”. He co-produced the album along with a variety of industry Greats. For the members of Losing Caufield, the summer of 2008 is a time of change. It’s a time to try and shed any preconceptions NEPA music fans may have about the band while also remaining true to themselves and their values and ideals.More than anything, however, it’s simply a time to rock.The Scranton-based band is putting the finishing touches on its second CD, titled “The Darkest Side of Town,” and guitarist Stefan Ogonosky says fans will soon get a feel for some of the fresh musical styles the group is bringing to its songs.“We don’t really consider ourselves emo or pop/punk anymore,” says Ogonosky. “We were like that at one point. Back in high school, that was the cool and hip thing, but now we’ve grown and matured and we’re listening to all different kinds of music. People ask us all the time, ‘What do you guys sound like?’ and it’s really hard for any of us to describe it. We put so many influences into our work it’s hard to put a label on it. Marrying DJ Shadow\'s aural patchwork approach to Danger Mouse\'s disregard for sample chiefing, Yoshi is patently enjoying complete freedom of sound.
