To many, Jason Becker's tale is one of the more tragic in rock history (just as stardom came a-calling -- by replacing Steve Vai in David Lee Roth's solo band -- Becker was stricken with Lou Gehrig's Disease). But Becker's tale is certainly one of the more inspiring as well, as he continues to write music via computer (by communicating with his eyes via a system developed by his father). And on the 2008 compilation Collection, all of his best bits are showcased, as the set is comprised of tracks from throughout his career, and includes a trio of new tunes. While there are quite a few ditties that show that Becker could shred with the best of them back in the good ol' days (namely "Opus Pocus" and Roth's "It's Showtime!"), quite a bit of Collection is comprised of new age-y tunes, including "Images," "Air," and the piano-led "End of the Beginning." In addition, the number of renowned six-string heroes that appear on the album is quite impressive, as Michael Lee Firkins, Marty Friedman, Greg Howe, Joe Satriani, and Vai all appear. Becker remains an inspiration to all -- beyond just guitar players -- and Collection is the proof. ~ Greg Prato Jason Becker Collection Songs | 1. | Rain | |

$13.49 Cacophony's Speed Metal Symphony is one of the more extreme entries in the Shrapnel Records catalog. Rather than being a showcase for merely one guitar hero possessing superhuman technique, Cacophony brings you two guitar virtuosos, Marty Friedman and Jason Becker, who are equally capable of blowing your head off with their ...

| | Cacophony Go Off CD (1989)
Collection songs
$13.99 Cacophony's second (and last) effort improves on the formula established on their Speed Metal Symphony album. The brainchild of guitarists Marty Friedman and Jason Becker, Cacophony is basically an arena in which the two shredders can indulge their most decadent instrumental ideas. Their songs are as influenced by speed metal as they are by neo-classical prog rock, which makes them even more intense than many of their Shrapnel brethren. On Go Off!, the duo clean up the sound a bit and pare back the guitar excesses ...
| | Robin Trower Seven Moons CD (2008) Digipak
Collection album
$12.89 Jack Bruce must have enjoyed his 2005 get-together with Cream so much that, when Clapton and Baker were unwilling to continue the collaboration, he rang up Robin Trower to renew the brief power trio fling they had in the mid-'80s. The Trower-Bruce pairing had released only two albums, B.L.T. and Truce, and was dormant since 1982, so this 2007 reunion was somewhat of a continuation of the project, albeit one separated by a quarter century. The results impressively continue where Truce left off, as Bruce brings his distinctive croon/moan to bluesy, riff-oriented tunes dominated by Trower's silvery guitar runs. ...

$16.45 Rebecca LeVeque - Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar Music...my necessity, my anchor, my passion. Ever since I was 16 years old I have practiced guitar. I would just pick a subject and come up with music and lyrics. Life experiences good and bad have given my inspiration. All my friends, people who aren\'t my friends, family, places I have been, even my dreams inspire me. Joni Mitchell, Carol King, Ann and Nancy Wilson from Heart, Neil Young, Stones....a few of my favorites. I listen to different genres...everything from R&B to jazz, new age, and some country to keep me learning about music, but I think my style leans toward ROCK. Which lead me to \"Zonixx The Band\". I had an opportunity to introduce a few of my songs to these guys! They want to rock! So I learned more cover tunes and we started practicing as a band. I have learned a lot, and so far it has been a good experience. So here I am, with Steven Barr (bassist/vocals and talented artist) and who I have been dating for some time, has a heart of gold and believes in me and motivates me to get out and PLAY. Frank Santilli (drummer & vocals) a long time friend who has the drive to play and kicks me in the butt to get out and play also. Jim Robinson (lead guitarist & vocals) who happens to be one of the best lead guitarists I have ever jammed with! And Bruce Langton...another talented artist and musician (guitar, vocals & keyboard) writes a few of his own songs as well. Thank you all!Steven Barr - Bass Guitar, Lead Vocals I used to sing in the shower and play air guitar. Then when I was in the Service stationed in Japan, I bought my first real guitar and started playing. This then lead to being in a group in college where I was mainly a lead singer. Well, responsibilities seem to creep in and all of this went by the wayside. Time and some of those responsibilities passed by and then one day:I ran into a musician friend and told him about my lovely, talented, musician/songwriting, artist, girlfriend. He said \"I\'m not really interested in starting a band, but come on over sometime and lets jam. \" The next Saturday afternoon we did just that. We arrived late but, much to our surprise there was also a drummer and bass player waiting for us. After going through several of my girlfriends original songs, my friend looked up and said \"Lets start a band!\" The drummer and bass player from that original gathering had other aspirations so it was a natural to ask two others we knew that were chomping at the bit to play music. It just came together so easily that it seemed a natural. From just about our first gathering we knew we had something special. I love the variety of tunes and originals we play and I hope you will also. It\'s a pleasure to be a part of this talented group of musicians we call \"Zonixx the Band. \" Bruce Langton - Keyboards, Guitar & Vocals Ever since I can remember I have been interested in music and art and to me they go hand in hand. When I was a junior ...
