The final album of all-new music released under the Partridge Family banner was also a harsh reminder of just how completely David Cassidy's solo career had eclipsed the nest in which he'd hatched. The album itself stiffed in commercial terms, failing even to spin off a decent hit single, while the performances all lean a lot closer towards the Cassidy solo ideal -- soft ballads, tight rockers -- than the all-for-one harmonies and joy that characterized the Partridges' earlier releases. It is still an entertaining record, of course, but the old exhilaration is sorely missing, as though the entire album was squeezed, blood from a stone-style, out of a wholly less than enthusiastic crew. And at the end of the day, the album's failure should be no surprise. The world had moved on from the days when the Partridges ruled the roost; so had David Cassidy. And, after this album, so had everybody else. ~ Dave Thompson

Roger Cairns started singing at a very early age and hasn’t stopped since. He sang at hisaunt’s wedding when he was three years old. He sang in the church choir. Every year, hesang at the local residents\' association Christmas party. He sang at school and was 12when he was awarded the Robert Burns Prize for excellence in the singing of Scottishsongs. That’s what Roger knew, that’s what he loved, and that’s what he decided he wasgoing to do when he turned 9: he was going to become a singer.Flash forward 50 years and Roger is in Los Angeles, California, singing with a 20-piecejazz orchestra. His musical path out of the Scottish projects was circuitous, to say theleast: it took him from crawling over English rooftops installing television antennas todelivering refreshments to the Beatles; from taking helicopter trips to North Sea oilrigs toorganizing outdoor stunt spectaculars in Saudi Arabia; from impromptu visits by theKGB to the birth of his three children. And yet, though life frequently got in the way andRoger had to put his musical career on hold several times over the years, never did any ofhis experiences feed his soul the way music did and nothing ever replaced his love ofsinging.Roger was born in the small coal mining village of Gilmerton, a suburb of Edinburgh, Scotland in1946. Not surprisingly, Roger’s talent and his penchant for music were neither nurturednor welcomed by his family in a post-war Britain more concerned with survival thanentertainment. So when he was 15 years old, Roger was sent off to complete a five-yearmining engineering apprenticeship with the National Coal Board.But eighteen months later, tired of being underground, Roger emerged from the bowels ofthe Scottish mines and headed for London to pursue his dream. He was 17. Within acouple of years, Roger found himself touring Germany with London-based Rare Amberand releasing a blues album on the Polydor label.
