| | Lordi Deadache CD Lordi Discography of CDs
(3 Customer Reviews)
Finland's Lordi offers its fourth studio release of fist-banging, hard-rocking party anthems with DEADACHE. Chockful of 1980s-inspired rock with a penchant for 1950s horror, Lordi's latest is heavier and more emotional than 2006's critically-acclaimed THE AROCKALYPSE. Featuring grotesque cover art by lead singer Mr. Lordi, DEADACHE is a neo-romantic joyride that thrills just as much as it chills. Credit Nino Laurenne (Ensiferum, Finntroll, Wintersun), who adds sharp production and unnerving atmospherics to the band's already refined sound. And with songs like "Girls Go Chopping" and "Raise Hell in Heaven," it's even more apparent that Lordi is back to party! The limited edition digipack version of DEADACHE includes the bonus track "Hate at First Sight."
Lordi (Finland): Lordi ; Mr.Lordi (vocals); Amen (guitar); Awa (keyboards); Ox (bass instrument); Kita (drum).

Kerrang (Magazine) (p.51) - "[I]t is an undeniably fun, brilliantly overblown slice of theatrical hard rock." Deadache Music Review Average Rating: (4.7 out of 5 stars) I love it I had seen Lordi many times in the past on either Youtube or TV and was so turned off by their gimmick, that I never gave the music a chance. The Gene Simmons with a bad cold vocals also never appealed to me. For some reason images of Green Jelly / Jello and Gwar always came flooding into my mind. So while staying up late one night, I here Conan say "heres Lordi." I watched and more importantly, listened. The song they played that night "Bite It Like A Bulldog" stuck in my head like super glue. A couple of days later, I ordered the CD from right here on CD Universe, and after the first listen, was completly blown away. One word that describes Lordi is fun. Behind the masks, Lordi are great song writers, that come up with amazing hooks that reel you right in. Lordi takes the best of the 80's hard rock / metal sound, puts their spin on it and then throws it right back at you. Take a killer riff, put in a huge chorus with some entertaining lyrics, and you got yourself a Lordi song. The Gene Simmons with a cold vocals are still there, but after repeated listens, the thing that once hidered the bands apeal to me, is now a asset, seperating Lordi from the pack. From beginning to end, this cd is great with few dull moments. Already one of my top picks for 2008. Hail to Finland!!! Submitted by Chevy (Gwinn, MI) Was This Review Helpful? Another great cd Lordi returns with another great cd. Their signature classic and hard rock sound is top notch. In a interview one of the bands member said we won't make the arockalypse pt. 2 but we won't forget our roots. This is a perfect example of what he said. The musical is a little different but still brings that sound that made me a lordi fan. A must have for any lordi fan. Submitted by drumdogcash (New Wilmington PA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Helloween Gambling With The Devil CDs (2007) Limited Edition 2 CD Version
Deadache
$15.05 The unprecedented worldwide success of multinational British-based power metallers DragonForce has cast an unexpected light upon German speed metal trailblazers Helloween. Perhaps the first band to convincingly combine thrash metal intensity with the melody and majestic imagery of the NWOBHM, and by extension the blueprint upon which DragonForce based their "extreme power metal" style, Helloween were a heavy metal institution, but one that had very much fallen by the wayside upon the departure of classic-era singer Michael Kiske and founder/guitarist Kai Hansen in the mid-'90s. Singer Andi Deris has been a permanent fixture ever since, but the band has found stable lineups difficult to come by, and the quality of material has been equally inconsistent. Following 2005's Keeper of The Seven Keys: The Legacy, on which the band attempted to revive the style of their mid-'80s classics, Gambling with the Devil is a little more calculated. The appearance of Saxon mainstay Biff Byford on the intro track "Crack the Riddle" is all too foreboding, however: for all its enthusiasm, Gambling with ...
| | Gamma Ray Land Of The Free II CD (2007)
Deadache
$14.35 Given the way Gamma Ray have remained stubbornly committed to '70s/'80s-style power metal, one would think that all of the people attending their concerts in the 21st century would be people over 40. But in fact, Gamma Ray acquired a lot of new fans in the '90s and 2000s -- people in the Gen-X and Gen-Y/Echo Boomer demographics -- and those post-'80s converts have really connected with their old-school approach regardless of how dated it sounds. Actually, the fact that this 2007 release sounds like it could have been recorded 25 years earlier might be a big part of its appeal to children and grandchildren of baby boomers. Someone who was 18 or 19 in 2007 wasn't old enough to remember the heyday of Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Ronnie James Dio or Queensr˙che -- hell, 2007's college freshmen weren't old enough to remember when Nirvana and Pearl Jam set off the grunge/alternative rock explosion in the early '90s -- and artists who stick to old-school power metal give them a chance to experience something from an era that they missed. Of course, there is nothing wrong with sounding dated if you are good at what you do; quality, not whether artists sound modern or old-fashioned, is the main thing, and Land of the Free II is clearly a solid example of the classic power metal sound. Gamma Ray do not alter their musical recipe one bit on this 65-minute ...

Deadache
$16.45 I was just five years old when I heard polka music for the first time. The performer was America’s Polka King, Frankie Yankovic, and needless to say it was love at first sound. As a child, the music’s bouncy beat drew me in, leaving an impression that will last a lifetime. It’s no secret that polka music is the happiest form of music on the face of the earth, and I thank you for helping me spread this joy by supporting Pint Size Polkas. | | Bill Symply Sound Experiment CD (2008)
Deadache
$16.45 “Sound Experiment” is the debut release by Bill Cave/SymplyBill. It’s being compared to several legends. The album has 13 original tracks with some likened to a modern Cash, some Gordon Lightfoot meets Jim Croce, some James Taylor, others Townes Van Zandt meets John Prine, but all are SymplyBill. For an epic & original Indie musical journey…experience “Sound Experiment.” SymplyBill has created an album that borrows from Folk, Country, & Blue Grass, but yet stands in a class all of its own. If you can imagine a sound that makes driving your car fun…that’s SymplyBill. When you hear it in full surround, then you’ll understand. Mainly a singer/songwriter/guitarist debut, “Sound Experiment” has some powerful female vocal work (Ashley Jo Farmer and Caroline Pond), solid lead & melodic backup (Rutledge Leland, Louis Eliot & Tag Garmon), and great overall rhythmic guitar for an album that is best summed up as “Epic.” Bill Cave borrows from a life experience that would make a great book but ended up in song. To find his way, he hit the road at 23 and has never looked ...
| | Ben Golding Rough Mixes & Love Songs CD (2009) (Import)
Deadache
$11.15 After Spending several years writing, recording and gigging his songs in London Ben began remixing and producing material for artists on labels such as EMI, XL and indie label Crosstrax. Using a combination of acoustic guitars and basses, percussion and drum samples, orchestral arrangements and soulful vocals there is a truly diverse range of songs on his new cd. Having released 4 studio albums on his own Goldmusic label (as well as many white label releases) Ben’s music has been compared to artists such as Ed Harcourt, Damien Rice and David Gray. The production has also been likened to more ambient, instrumental and cinematic music. Some Ben Golding reviews:Ben’s tunes have ...
