2008 digitally remastered edition of this original album from the beloved British singer/songwriter and former member of Soft Machine. Wyatt's releases come from one of the most distinguished, visionary, influential and singular catalogs in contemporary music. The history of Robert Wyatt's music gained a new and wonderful chapter in 1997 with the release of Shleep, his first album since 1991. With contributions from guest musicians Brian Eno, Paul Weller, Phil Manzanera, Evan Parker, Annie Whitehead and others, Robert has created another classic album: inimitably Wyatt, but adding new colors and textures. | | Ben Folds Songs For Silverman CD (2005) DualDisc
Shleep CD music
$16.69 This is a DualDisc, which contains a CD on one side of the disc and a DVD on the other.
Given his 2004 collaboration with William Shatner and his penchant for borderline-novelty tunes ("Army" and "Rockin' the Suburbs"), some might expect Ben Folds's second solo record, SONGS FOR SILVERMAN, to bask in outright silliness. While "Jesusland" contains sparkling moments of unsubtle irony ("beautiful McMansions on a hill"), the tune is actually a piercing, and often quite affectionate, appraisal of American hypocrisy, adorned by sweet melodies and soaring strings. And so it goes with SONGS FOR SILVERMAN, a thoroughly sober album overflowing with the sort of contemplative insight and orchestral, unforgettable ...
| | Autechre Quaristice CD (2008)
Shleep music CDs
$12.65 Among detractors, electronic music is often criticized for wanting some undefined quality, most often related to some perception of a lack of "warmth" or "soul." The music of U.K. electronic pioneers Autechre makes no such easy concessions to what might be considered pedestrian concerns. Since the early 90s, Sean Booth and Rob Brown have been generating a parallel universe of sound--a ...

Shleep album
$10.15 Together but SeparateBrother and Sister release complementary EPsBrother and sister musicians Al and Aimee Lay have worked on each other’s projects over the years, but their latest collaboration is unlike anything they’ve done before; together they have released solo EPs. Aimee’s “Suncatcher” and Al’s “Change” reflect the individual styles of shared musical influences and common life experiences. “We feel we have a unique perspective as singers/songwriters…being that our heritage and our experiences have made us in some way, Siamese souls,” Al says.Al and Aimee came up with their album concept, the co-production of individual albums, during an emotional family trip to their mother’s native country of South Korea. Their parents had not been back in more than three decades, since the time of their marriage. Their mother, a child during the Korean War, came to California with their American father while another war raged in Vietnam. The inter-racial couple had a hard time being accepted both in America and in South Korea. Their mother, in particular, found it difficult to adjust to a new way of life in the U.S.“There was racism around us, no doubt.” Al says about the joining of the two families and of growing up at the time. “There was a lot of heaviness that seeped into us as kids. At the time we didn’t know what it was.”“We have a very close relationship with our parents,” Aimee adds. “We didn’t have a particularly bad childhood, but it was a heavy childhood.”Aimee and Al found expression and escape through music. Despite their four-year age difference, the two listened and discovered music together. “We fell in ...

| | Vince Neil Exposed CD (1993)
Shleep music CDs
$12.79 Originally Release '93 , Debut solo album from the Motley Crue singer, with former Billy Idol's guitarist Steve Stevens guest & co-written on most of the tracks .
Vince Neil's solo debut is a glittering hunk of 1980s hair metal space junk, crash-landed smack dab and smoking in the town square of 1993 alternative city. With crack hired gun Steve Stevens along for the ride, Neil runs through a gloriously anachronistic set of athletic, Mötley-lite rockers, thumbing his nose at the flannel and hair grease revolution with his gaggle of strutting Aqua Netted vest guys (pictured on the back cover in full-on preen). It's unclear just what Neil is exposing with this album, since its lyrics mostly just extend the sexual conquests ("You're Invited (But Your Friend Can't Come)") and concurrent never-say-die/gonna-die-young ethos ("Can't Have Your Cake") espoused by his old band. Exposed does wind down a bit after its revved up open, offering the dull "Can't Change Me." While the LP's florescent riffing and histrionic vocal exercises prove Neil ...
